My hometown had a rather large county fair in the fall. The Kiwanis Club would always have a large booth on the main aisle near the front entrances and exhibit buildings. It was one of those county fairs that had all the ribbon winning contests up front in the exhbit buildings, and bronco riding, concerts, and funny a** local wrestling at the backend mini arena. They would hand dip and fry to order some of the best footlong corn dogs I've ever had. Many people bought tickets to the fair just to go sit at their booth for those corn dogs and never went anywhere else.Just, no. Corn dogs should be hand dipped and fried to order.
It's a Jeff Dunham thing actually...Thanks for the rabbit hole. I have found that an Auburn fan is credited for starting this in 2005. I have seen that it was started about Nebraska fans or Iowa State fans, but from later dates. I am no closer to knowing the truth than when I started searching 20 minutes ago.
my fiance' and I have loved getting a twist on corndogs at music festivals and the like.
it starts off like a footlong corndog, breaded meat on a stick, but they replace half of the "dog" with mozzarella. so its a combo mozzarella stick and corndog. the best ones, the bread is actually panko breading, and when they throw something extra on top. Korean dog has kimchi (better than it sounds) and yum yum sauce, their "taco dog" had Taki chips ground up and mixed into the batter. another one had shredded cheese on it.
if that isn't why America was founded, I don't know what else it could be.
