Corey Smith is a solid athlete...but he would absolutely need a redshirt year. A year or so of JuCo is worth its weight in gold compared to redshirting from the standpoint that the actual on-field playing time (at full speed) will benefit the kid more than being one of these practice squad type kids.
He'll need to fill-out and get a bit bigger...but college will do that for you.
I'm glad Corey Smith chose Tennessee, but I'm curious what the deal is with his committment in regard to why he has to go JuCo. I watched his announcement video and there's some un-explained stuff going on that seems fishy. ------- Just curious.
