"If they bring in Air Force's coach...........im out"

I cut and pasted this directly from his page. Reactions to this?? Im friends with almost all out commitments and they are all saying the same thing. We need a big time name to keep recuits, most are saying they would play for Muschamp above all others.

Reactions, thoughts??

Don't let the door hit em on the way out. Last I checked, 18yr old recruits don't have any credentials to make a football hire.

I don't like this hire, but it is what it is! Maybe he will prove me wrong?? Of course, I was ok with the Kiffin hiring and was wrong about that one......

Calhoun has a pretty good resume, the only thing that bothers me is on the defensive side of the ball....

I'm still a VOLUNTEER no matter what!!! I'm behind you CC!!!

Calhoun has a much better resume than the last idiot hired. He needs to come in and clean house immediately. If you've got players threatening to jump ship that just shows you the shape the programs in. Selfish players with no concern for TEAM football. Do you guys really wonder why your program has sunk in the last few years? When you recruit those type of players your asking for trouble.

These defensive recruits were some of the top in the country. They didn't come here for Tenenssee. They came here so Monte could get them to the NFL.

That to me is understandable.

Please don't act as if this is some strange attitude that isn't common with any program turned on it's head. Every team has players that would react this way in their locker room.

It was more than Corey who said they would leave if it was calhan who got hired..it's a rush hire if true and this will cost hammy his job and set Ut back some more

Kid's a moron. Troy Calhoun has the same NFL connections that any other coach would, so if he wants to play in the league, he needs to give Calhoun a chance.

Plus, if Calhoun's the guy, HE'S NOT GOING TO RUN THE WISHBONE!

It would take him 2-3 years to get the personnel he needs to win with the wishbone, and in the SEC, he doesn't have that long...he's got to win now, so he'll lean on his NFL experience and install a pro-style attack to take advantage of the personnel he's got.

I think this is a good hire. Calhoun is well-respected in the coaching ranks, not because his daddy's a legend, but because of his work ethic and resume.

I'm starting to get excited!:dance2:
I think that if he comes and tells everyone, NO I WILL NOT RUN AN OPTION OFFENSE ONLY he will calm people down.

Can you imagine if we have a pro style attack and then we have a wildcat formation with Oku and Bryce Brown on the backfield?

Good...Well if you do that do not bother coming back when UT starts winning...You people are ridculous...Go root for someone else if you don't like the coach that gets hired..I'm a VOL regardless of who the football coach is..I hope they do hire Calhoun just to get rid of bandwagoners like you

amen....calhoun will bring some class and discipline....we dont need a coach that have thugs writing songs about them like "smokin weed and talkin S*** like Lane Kiffin". There are alot of talented kids out there that will respect that discipline and integrity. Somebody else can have the pellet gun bandits.

I was plain against the hire until I took the time to learn a little about the guy. What his history shows me is that he is offensively flexible. He will think outside of the box with his playcalling which plagued us during the Fulmer years and he will run a tight ship. I'm starting to get excited.

I just hope we can assemble a fantastic defensive staff.

The reason I supported the Lane Kiffin hire was the fantastic staff that he brought with him. I think Calhoun with a great staff like that will be even better

Calhoun has not been in the jobs he has been in because he is a one trick pony. He runs the option at Air Force because of the talent level he has. At a place like Tennessee he will be able to recruit big time players and in turn run the pro style offense like he did in Denver. As far as recruiting, if a man can recruit a any of the military schools in the times we live in today he should do ok at Knoxville.
