Just Go Deep....................there's no skill to that route........

Yeah. You know there would be at least 2 defenders on him at all times. If he just runs a deep route every couple of plays, I would think it would open up the rest of the field.

His NFL career won't be over just on the sheer fact that he is electrifying with the ball in his hands. He will be a full time return man somewhere but on offense he will be used as a plug and play type of player. He should hit up Jerry Rice and learn to run routes from him because if he could learn to do that he would be one of the best playmakers the league has seen.

Kick returns and a totally different game now. The need for a great kick returner isn't really important anymore

Since moving the KO line to the 35 returns dropped to 41% last season. This year they're moving the TB line from the 20 to the 25 so expect that number to drop even more.

A player with little more utility than being a KOR, even a good one, is getting pretty hard to justify.

Patterson was completely raw and not good as a WR at UT, and it was obvious that it would take him at least two years--under the best of circumstances--to become a decent pro receiver. I had my doubts, and he's been a bust. He'll get a chance to make another roster but I doubt he will.....we'll see.

As for Hunter, he's a lot better receiver than CP and I thought he was on his way to getting established--just needed to get stronger, but haven't followed him or the titans for a couple of years. Doesn't sound like he's thriving either....

There's always the CFL, they'd love to have a player of his ability. Crompton probably already lobbying

Guys like Devin Hester have survived for quite some time as being just kick returners and not very good WR's. I don't see any reason why CP can't be the same type of guy.

The game has changed since Hester's prime. The NFL moved the kickoff up a few years back so that there would be more touchbacks and they are considering eliminating the kickoff altogether.

Yes, but teams still have to punt...

Fun to watch, but frustrating that he could have been so much more if he would have given his "all" for the game. With his natural ability, he had potential to become an all-time great.

So Patterson cannot run a decent bubble, a stop route, a go route, a sideline pattern, a crossing route? Strange, he did those routes at UT. Not buying it at all. It is more likely he does not block well. He needs to play for a team that is willing to design more of their offense for his athleticism, like Chaney was willing to do. Like some of the NFL teams that have no offense and score less than 20 points per game, while complaining they have no playmakers. Maybe some of them that have QB's making $10+ M a year that cannot hit a WR 20 yards downfield.
He was lost. Bray even said he would have to find him. And a lot of times he was not running HIS route. Bray just got the ball to him anyway. The guy probably just has a hard time retaining what he learns from playbook

As a Vikings fan I was so excited when we traded to get CP in the 1st round, however he has just simply not panned out. It's frustrating for me because he was one of my favorites to ever play at UT. The guy simply can't run a route. I just wish someone could explain to me why he doesn't want to try to improve his route running. Perfect fit in a Norv Turner offense I think, he just has to work on his part.

Him not being able or wanting to read a defense is hard to get past, teach the man the route tree, have the QB signal the route for him to run each play.

You can't teach speed or ability, but he has more than enough of both.

Come on CP, get it together, Volnation is pulling for you no matter what NFL team you end up playing for.

Won't happen during CP's career.
