There are lots of options.

Chromecast will be cheapest option, however it will require another device like phone/tablet to work.

Devices like Roku,Nexus Player are good options if you prefer a more cable like experience i.e. separate remote, on screen navigation, etc

Kodi - I had a terrible experience trying to get any sort of consistency. 99% of streams didn't work and I spent more time looking for streams than i did watching the games.


All options except Kodi will require some sort of subscription like Playstation Vue or SlingTV.

Your Kodi experience is why I included the VPN requirement.
I am curious as to why OP does not want to use something like Chromecast and just stream the app to the TV.

Alright, help me narrow this down. Chromecast is always an option, but not ideal. Between our janky internet and janky computers, the stream is also janky when being cast from our computers to our TVs. We actually have a Roku, which is how we watch the ESPN streams, but we can't figure out if we'll be able to watch the rest of the games.

I'm obviously not savvy with this - are we already set and just need to configure the Roku? Sorry, I'm not smart!!

I have sling and they don't broadcast CBS or ABC games...or am I just too dumb to figure it out...the sling app I use has all of the ESPN channels, and the SEC network....

I thought that I would have to buy an OTA to get the abc, cbs, fox, and nbc...

Okay I'm of less help here.
I've only used the WatchESPN app a couple of times, but its had every game I've wanted to see, on it. Are you having a different experience than that?

No, but, as of now, WatchESPN won't be streaming the game. Hence my dilemma.

CBS All Access has live streaming for Roku. Think it includes Saturday sports, not sure. You can activate it free with a cable subscription verification or pay a small monthly fee.

For Saturday's game you just need a tuner. For everything else I use Sling. $20 base package gets you ESPN/2/3 plus $5 for SECN and SECN plus, ESPNU, and Goaline. I think for another $5 you can get local fox sports and FS1? Use your credentials to log into the ESPN app on whatever you're using. ESPN is much more stable than the sling app.
