Cant read the article but I guess Jim Bob is the new GA, where's Rick going? We dont need him now that Jimmy's at ND.

i hope jimmy clausen is a HUGE bust, and ND doesn't win more than 8 games in a season the next 4 years.

dont we all, I think jimmy's far more talented than either of his brothers and I predict that barring injury he'll be huge.

Why? Because he didn't sign with Tennessee?

Im pretty sure that we wouldnt want him to be a bust if he'd signed with us. As for me, I just hate Notre Dame and Coach Man Boobs. Seriously, if Charlie Weiss wears his pants any higher his belt can double as a bra.

The last report I heard from ND, is that Jimmy the Great is third on the depth chart. Really struggling right now.

for some reason, a big portion of our fan base spent most of the time during jimmy recruiting period talking about how bad they didn't want him. yet when he signed with notre dame some of the same people in this category talk about is how badly they want his career there to be. go figure

I like Rick Clausen. He was tough as nails like his big brother, and he didn't seem to have the same ego problems... at lease not to the same degree anyway. I was also under the impression that he genuinely liked being at UT, which is a plus in my book.

So, I don't think it's exactly fair to say that we don't "need" Rick anymore, like he's just a recruiting pawn. I appreciate what he gave to the program while he was playing (A&M and LSU efforts in particular, but also his winning attitude in general), and I'd say that the program would not be hurt at all by his continued involvement.

Just my opinion, of course. And it's not like I have any special inside knowledge.

That's all. :)

wow, from playing in front of 100,000+ to selling insurance...that's a tough one. If you were going to sell insurance as a former player you'd think he'd stay in the area.

great thread, but i warn you, more statements like that will get 3/4 the board all over your back because in their mind if you don't put up the numbers peyton manning put up, you're worthless.

please, it happens all the time. it even happens to players that win conference championships and bowl games. rick's a big boy, he knew it was time to move on. give the kid some credit.

Agreed. My only beef with Casey was that we'd lose a game, and he'd just trot off the field like it was no big deal. Rick always struck me as having more passion.

Casey elbowed my little sister's boyfriend in a bar on the strip one night, and for that I was grateful. But, I never quite got over those comments he made after the Georgia game. I can't remember exactly what they were, but it was something to the effect of, "If I were playing, we definitely would have won by two touchdowns". :ermm:

Probably went to be a little closer to his brother.

I have the feeling that Rick Clausen will be our best aluminus coach in next 10 years. His is kinda of guy who is phsically ineligible, but makes right decision. That is a advantage when being a coach

We call Coooooter the "seventh-year senior." We don't need a piece of news like "Today, JBC finishes his master degree in XXX in his tenth year at UT"

Former Tennessee quarterback Jim Bob Cooter is Tennessee's newest graduate assistant coach, replacing Rick Clausen.

Clausen, a former UT quarterback who was the offensive graduate assistant last season, left to take a job with an insurance company in Chicago.

"Rick did a good job for us," UT coach Phillip Fulmer said. "But we're excited to have Jim Bob."

Cooter, a Fayetteville native, spent four seasons with the Vols as a back-up quarterback.

During spring practice, Cooter served as a student assistant coach.

"Jim Bob is very intelligent, an outstanding communicator and has a very creative mind," Fulmer said. "He'll be an excellent coach if he decides to stay with it."

Cooter will assist offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe in coaching the quarterbacks and work on editing game film and self-scouting.
