Converted Linebackers

I guess I must have missed all of the 255 lb outside linebackers in 4-3 defenses

How long you been watching football? I've seen SEC linebackers in all shapes & sizes. It's funny how the "experts" love sizing up their prototypical players for hypothetical defenses.

Yes, in the whole history of the SEC there have been linebackers of all shapes and sizes. However, they are the exception and not the rule. Is there any reason why anyone should beleive Smith is an exception? I don't see it, and it does not look like we will ever get to see for sure as he will be playing OLB in a base 3-4 next year.

What is the criteria for each position & who said we were running a base 3-4? At least it gives the "experts" something to talk about. Show me you're printout for height/weight range for every position in every defense. Lol. FYI its not the whole story of the SEC it's every year.

Is there a former linebacker in minor league baseball, maybe who can't hit the curve?

I don't think we're instantly going to a 3-4 D because it's very complicated and normally takes 2 to 3 years to get all the players up to speed even if we had enough of the right players for every position.

I think CSS and CDD will work to get our 4-3 D better and at the same time start being more versatile and try to fool some QB's by jumping into the 3-4 D with special plays and use it more as players learn their parts and different blitz schemes.

It may be too big a risk to try to jump right in to a 3-4 instantly and maybe lose some games because of basic mistakes when our 4-3 improved alot last season.

The next 2 years are sure going to be fun to watch as this transition moves forward.

VFL...GBO!!!

Any news of anyone switching? Been hearing that players are meeting with Dooley. Sounds like we might hear of some new roles soon.

I think the best way Rod Wilks can help us in his senior year is to put on about 15 pounds and play linebacker

I just get the feeling that Jacques is going to end up like our version of Courtney Upshaw. I like the idea that we 're going to phase the 3-4 in to give the guys time to learn.

I wonder if both AJ Johnson and Maggitt will be our inside linebackers with Smith and Lathers as the outside linebackers. That would appear to be a possible combination.

No AJ is an ILB and prob Lathers(both?) but Maggitt and Smith are OLBs. I really like Fugate at ILB.

Man I absolutely hate twitter will someone please translate.

Mo was saying that his boys, Willie Bohannon and Jacques Smith, have now been moved to linebacker. He then said they went from wearing orange to yellow, implying that they've gone soft moving from defensive line to linebackers. The #jp means "just playing" because all linemen are proud to be linemen and think everyone else is soft.
