Are there any players that may be converted to linebacker? I've heard Channing Fugate's name in particular. SIAP.

Edit: Also, any conversions in general, just wanted to focus on LB'ers. Thanks in advance. :hi:

Jacques Smith, perfect size for a 3-4 LB imo. I think he has a much better year in Sunseri's defense compared to last year under Wilcox.

Oh yeah for sure, there are other DE's like Jordan Williams and Lewis coming in that may play 3-4 OLB as well.

I just get the feeling that Jacques is going to end up like our version of Courtney Upshaw. I like the idea that we 're going to phase the 3-4 in to give the guys time to learn.

Im pretty sure Dooley has wanted us to run a 3-4 base from the start, but we didn't have personnel to run it these past 2 years. Now we finally have the depth, talent, and big men up front to make the transition to 3-4.

Fugate is a big tough boy, and probably played LB in HS. I really want Chaney to hand him the ball up the gut and let him plow ahead a few times though. We have yet to see that happen and might be well pleased. He didn't run all those yards in HS by being weak.

I bet someone gets moved though. Need a little depth at LB and need to keep some fresh legs in there.

Fugate needs to get off Dooleys $hit list. He hardly saw the field last year. I wonder what he did.

Agreed. Wish fullbacks would get some love in college football. Fugate could be a beast, IMO.

Dooley said in his press conference that LaTroy Lewis would be a OLB. Jacques Smith, Willie Bohannon, and Jordan Williams will likely all go to OLB too.

Those are some big ol linebackers... Do they have the speed to stay with receivers and set the edge?

I figure the new walk-on, Ryeon Wedley, was asked to walk-on just for that reason. He was a LB. If nothing else, he provides depth.

Fugate was a monster at LB in high school and I agree - if he was not going to play - redshirt the kid - do not waste a year. He is a phenomenal athlete that should have gotten a shot at running back last year - he for sure would hit it up the gut on short yardage. They might have been bowl eligible using Fugate - he is a gamer.

It is very strange how last year played out - maybe Bartholomew does block better - but not having a RB coach sure had to be a factor.

Since the FB is a non factor in Chaney's offense - go ahead and move Fugate to LB - he would be no worse than Austin Johnson and possibly a huge surprise.

This kid would be a star in a lot of offenses and I hate to say it but Kiffin sure would have used him. Georgia, Arkansas and Stanford know how to use a big tough RB as a playmaker FB/TB type but it seems to baffle the Vols.

All the crying around on losing Santos - Channing Fugate is twice the ballplayer Santos is. Maybe Sal will draft him away from Chaney and use the talent at hand.

I'd like yo know what happened with Fugate also. The coaches had positive things to say early in the season then Bart took over.

What is the average height, weight and 40 times do you want for all lb positions in a 3-4? Thanks. I saw jaq at at a basketball game a couple weeks ago and guy has gained a minimum of 20 lbs since all those pics that surfaced of him. He is give now. Just wondering if he had the size and speed for ilb

Jarvis Jones had a helluva year as a outside lb for UGa last year he is about 6,3 240. Rolando McClain and Donta Hightower were both over 6'3 and 240 at ILB and had great instincts
