construction at neyland stadium

Actually, $3,000 per seat.... I like the concept but I pay less than that (per seat) for my 4 on the 50 row 13!
Good correction (I am making too many errors on here from memory, these days). Also I was wrong about the tickets. The flyer says with the $3K per seat you also get your tickets.

According to the local news, UT has about 75 million to cut from it's budget. My understanding that construction was suppose to stop as well.I'm not sure how this comes into play with Hamilton's on-going brainstorm concerning Neyland.I hope the 75 million at least includes all state school systems combined.

I'm sure they are intertwined in some respects, but "UT" and "UTAD" are two different things.

I doubt they will stop construction due to budget cuts. From my understanding, this was being funded by boosters and privately.

You are correct. VASF still recruiting and I got another call from them just yesterday. The initial pledge will be going toward construction instead of the scholarship fund...

They are beating every bush looking for more money because they are behind budget on construction funding.

Well I cannot justify giving up 50 yard line seats on row 13 for Upper Deck seats that cost $500 more each.... I can do without the arm rest and cup holder!

Unfortunately for them, most people they contact come to the same conclusion. All I could do was laugh when they told me how many of the seats they had sold.

If Crompton is starting they need to add some more exits.
Yeah, kinda steals the thunder from the old story; "Did you hear about the expansion of Vandy's Dudley Stadium? They're adding 27 more exits!" The Nashville brains are probably getting a laugh at our expense now.

I wish they would rip out all the bleachers and go with chairback seats in the whole stadium. would lose some capacity but would be much better IMO. the bolt- on seats are terrible also.

How about making the concession stands bigger, make the seats bigger and put huge jumbotrons on both ends of the stadium.

I sit in Section C which is in the original "stadium" footprint when it sat 24,000. I am curious to see what happens with the renovations. I have been told that the original plan has had to be modified because there was more structural issues with the old classroom/dorm area than originally anticipated. I too love the old narrow hallways, sunken concession stands and the urinal troths! Those can only be topped by the urine walls in Tiger Stadium at LSU.

I've done that about a dozen times w/family and friends, ...I've always felt like that was something special and different about UT. The facility staff hasn't any fear of fans doing something stoopid to the building, we all love it too much. Its part of being a Tennessean.

Fulmer story, I took my girlfriend to Knoxville for the first time to meet my family. It was summer and we got intown before anybody @ home had gotten off work. I took my girlfriend up to the Strip to show her my old apt., bars I like and campus. We went over to the coach's offices and she freaked out, there is a sign right there says, "stay the hell outta here jerk". (not really but close) I took her up the stairs past, Randy Sanders in a conf. room w/some Grad. Assts. and we waved, went down the hall into Coach Fulmers office, his sec. was out. I looked in his office, knocked on his door and asked if we could come in. He said of course and apologized because he had soo much work on his desk he didn't have alot of time. I explained to him, I went to Camp w/him for about 6 yrs. and shared a story w/him about me getting into trouble while attending. He said he remembered that (no he didn't) and said he was glad I turned out ok. He then spent about 15 mins. showing us around his office and telling my (now wife) girlfriend about the camp, what UT was all about, and how glad he got to meet her even before my Mom. He didn't have to spent 2 mins. w/us, let alone the 15. That was one of my great experiences with Fulmer in addition to seeing the stadium that day.

in 65-66, i lived in neyland, south stadium hall, 5th floor. in the off season, me and some of the other guys would have touch football games on the playing field. it was a simpler time.

Now that is awesome, ....I played in a HS playoff game there in 89,....won't forget that...

there's no way we could add another bowl. i'm pretty sure that the new seat total will be the final unless we find a way to add more on the side of the press boxes or something.

Funny you should say that... I was reading an article from around 2001 (i think) when the then Associate AD was quoted saying that any further increases would come in the form of 2 more skyboxes, to be on the endzones. FWIW.

I think he was blowing smoke up the media to try to look good but who knows.

Hopefully, they add those giant multimillion dollar video screens in both endzones---bigger than they have at pro stadiums. They cost about $5-$10 million each, but UT can easily afford it.
