Jonathan Turley testimony before the House Judiciary Committee.

‘The Imperial Presidency’ | Washington Free Beacon

“My view [is] that the president, has in fact, exceeded his authority in a way that is creating a destabilizing influence in a three branch system,” he said. “I want to emphasize, of course, this problem didn’t begin with President Obama, I was critical of his predecessor President Bush as well, but the rate at which executive power has been concentrated in our system is accelerating. And frankly, I am very alarmed by the implications of that aggregation of power.”

If anyone in the House had any stones they would start the impeachment process. They don't, so all they will do is whine

the problem political parties face is they are too short-sighted. They never think 10-20yrs down the road when they institute/allow these things and believe power will last forever. It just builds on top of itself until the inevitable happens

I think that's the problem with people in general, not just political parties.

true but the individual has less of an impact than a bunch of myopic groupthinkers worried about blue vs red.

When you have half of the people in the chamber give the king a standing ovation when he says he will by pass them if he wants, we are probably past the breaking point.

Seriously, name a president in modern history that has not bypassed Congress by use of the EO.

I would say the constitutional tipping point happened during the Civil War. Suspension of habeus corpus and false imprisonment of journalists and politicians who opposed the war is Soviet Union stuff. Ever since then the Federal Government has known they can get away with whatever they want, under the right circumstances.

One way Congress is rendering itself irrelevant is by failing to pass anything.

When is the last time they passed a law that made you more free? In my East TN vernacular: I don't wont them to do nothin for a long time unless it is to check and balance Mr. Obama.

Name me a President in modern history that said he would do it and got a standing ovation from his party in the Legislative Branch.
