BRU McCoy
Fact or Fiction
Gonna start by saying that I'm assuming everyone is aware of bru's previous baggage if not go look into it so you have all the context otherwise your already lost.

I was on a usc forum after they released their statement the other day and members were talking about usc title IX abuse a how it was out of control that is how I started down this rabbit hole.

What I have learned is USC currently has 9 or 10 active lawsuits against them for both title IX abuse and discrimination against male students. Is Bru just the latest victim or is it all coincidence? A new class of victims: abuse of Title IX at the University of Southern California

Since I do not know the facts, I can not offer an opinion. I do know, I am tired of all these conspiracy theories. If one have the facts, there is no reason to even discuss an issue.

I agree. The conspiracy theory crap as a whole is way out of hand. Anyone that wants to spew anything now has a mouthpiece for it with social media and people that want to believe that they are being targeted lap it up like water in the desert.

No one is out to get UT or Bru. He messed up, got into it with a girl, and got arrested. USC then didn't handle his status as a student correctly once the DA decided (in August 2021 nonetheless) there was not enough evidence. USC barred him from campus all together, forcing him to sit 2021. He rightly sued and then decided to transfer to continue his playing career.

USC's lawyers have supposedly prevented the school from participating in the transfer process until recently in an effort to prevent an admission of guilt by USC for barring him from campus and creating this eligibility issue for him even after the DA declined to prosecute BEFORE THE '21 FOOTBALL SEASON HAD EVEN STARTED (That's some BS and no wonder Bru decided to sue).

Its really that simple.

In this day and age, USC is being extra cautious with Title IX stuff, especially since they're a private university. Abuse towards males is kinda laughable. We know two things for sure. Something domestic happened between him and the girl. The DA cited insufficient evidence in a case it referred to as “he said, she said domestic violence". He earned his temporary suspension from school. It was the continued prosecution by USC that he didn't earn.

Bru wouldn't have been in that position had he not done something. It was enough to get in trouble, despite there not being enough evidence to prosecute. Heupfully he learned a valuable lesson when it comes to relationships. Just leave. Don't engage. Walk away.

George Gascon failed to press charges? ROTFLMAO. That a$$ clown? Now I'm worried Bru may have done something viciously heinous. If our society has not learned by now... STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM LA. If something leaves LA and comes to you, watch out.

What's funny about discrimination, also thought it was innocent till proven guilty. You either didn't read the article or are sick.

IDK, man. Dodger Stadium is pretty cool, and I hate the Dodgers.

After spending extended time there the last two summers, I don’t get why Cali gets such a bad rep. It seems doubly so from people who haven’t visited at all.

Sure, it has substantial warts, but hell, so does everywhere else.

No, not every city has a DA (George Gascon) that lets murderer's walk and fails to prosecute anything. That is the issue here. LA is currently a dumpster fire of it's own design. I just hate to hear Bru McCoy was involved in LA's style of criminal promoting non-justice. When you hear "Authorities did not press charges" it usually means something, unless of course it is said in LA, New York or a host of other wanna be commie cities today.

I read that Bru's ex still has an active restraining order against him. Does anybody know for sure whether that is true? Because if that's the case she had to have met the civil standard of proof "more likely than not" that he presents some sort of threat to her. That is a lower standard than the criminal standard "beyond a reasonable doubt" but it certainly indicates there is a bit more to the story and that may be the hold up.

I stopped placing much credibility in the article when the author spent the last few paragraphs attacking the women in charge of Title IX investigations. Clearly the author has an agenda. This agenda slanderous cherry picking news crap is what makes Fox and CNN not credible too.

I disagreed that Bru is a victim of these two women's anti-male agenda by stating facts that we supposedly know about Bru's case. I really think it's that simple and not some conspiracy by two "feminists" in charge of Title IX at Southern Cal.

[The legal case against the University of Southern California [hereafter, USC] is complex and massive. The dossier contains at least nine lawsuits at the Superior Court level, all by male respondents who have contested the fairness of their sanctions. Among these lawsuits, at least one of them is final: Doe v. University of Southern California. Here, USC attempted to suspend a male student not because he was accused of rape, but because he did not stop a different male from committing “sexual assault,” the assault in question being an instantaneous butt-slap that happened during otherwise consensual sex. The Second Court of Appeals sided with Doe and particularly condemned the institution for using hearsay instead of material evidence; the verdict was written by Audrey B. Collins, former Chief Judge of the Central District of California] That is public court record yes the last paragraph is very biased and no I do not know what happened with Bru and his ex but the DA did not have evidence to prosecute a he said she said. What I'm pointing out is the optics look really bad from USC standpoint.

I agree the optics are bad, but disagree that the anti-male agenda is why. In Bru's case, he was arrested but not charged. He created the bad optics that day. USC did not cause him to get arrested. That was his fault.

If he had not been arrested for whatever it was he allegedly did, he wouldn't have been suspended by the school. When the DA dropped the case, they dropped all criminal charges. There's a lot more to his circumstances than criminal charges in LA county. Someone had to complain to the university that made them decide he was still a physical threat and therefore banned from campus, which is their right to do. USC is already facing tons of litigation, so it's only natural for them to err on the safe side, in this case the victim's side and the protection of their institution. Honestly, I would expect UT admin to do the same. Pretty sure they have in previous instances.

Do I agree with it? Yes, I don't think the school had a choice in barring him if what we have read is true and there was fear of physical violence plus evidence of it with an arrest. In fact, I would be willing to bet UT is doing the same thing to Mr. Mohan as we speak.

Do I think they should have signed the dang NPO release form and let him go his own way as soon as he decided to transfer? Absolutely, especially if they weren't going to allow him back on campus or had no intention of letting him play football at USC. That's my only beef with how they handled this thing. Simply cutting ties and wishing him good luck with the NCAA is pathetic. I do expect more from a highly regarded university when it comes to their students. It would be different if this was not his first time.

I believe everyone deserves a second chance and can change if they desire. I sincerely hope he learned from all this and stays out of trouble. I selfishly hope he gets cleared, balls out, and reminds us all of the magic of wearing #15 at WRU.

All of your points are fair the conspiracy theory title was a bit much but we have like 5 posts labeled Bru McCoy and I was really just trying to evoke conversation. My real opinion is I have no idea what the holdup is. Generally speaking I am inclined to believe the victim in such situations but there really doesn't seem to be credible testimony from either party. What doesn't sit well is the past Title XI abuse be it that report is from 2017 but it shows a pattern of Title IX abuse and discrimination. 9 cases in 6 years isn't an isolated incident and you can't tell me usc isn't a politically motivated institution. Their website reads like activist poster.

I agree with this. Used to **** on California every chance I got, but I've been to San Diego and Santa Barbara the last 2 years and it's beautiful out there. Lots to do, great bars and restaurants. Even has a small Irish pub I frequent every time I'm in San Diego. Flying into LAX is a nightmare, but it's no worse than Hartsfield-Jackson in ATL

Reality 101. If you have a son who is, or soon will be, in college (or even high school), warn them to be very careful…VERY careful. Title IX has morphed into a place where an accused male has very little, if any, due process rights. They don’t have to do anything wrong to be steamrolled by that system of kangaroo court justice.

Title IX cases should be handled by the courts, which have established rules of procedure and evidence…and not by college administrators who are legendary for their stereotypes and biases.

And, as an aside, I am the parent of a soon-to-be college coed.
