If this is our hire then they don't give a dang about winning football games,
Might as well join the American Conference. Now they are just stealing TV money.

This can't be true nothing at all about it on the internet. After reading the comments by the Baylor players saying Steele didn't have a clue, he just does not seem that bright or have the energy level to get it done here.

Kiffin would light the place up with scoring points, but I guess he was never considered a saint among those wanting one for a coach.

I will probably get roasted for this but I would rather give steele the job this year instead of settling for a second tier coach that nobody wants. Once the situation is settled with the NCAA we may be better positioned to get the coach that the ad wants. On a side note: I am tired of loosing like everyone else and tired of settling for coaches that dont seem to be able to get our program where it needs to be but if we cant get the coach the AD wants then I would just as soon stick with someone already on staff instead of overpaying another Dooley, butch,or pruitt

Is this our regularly scheduled 5:00 panic, until something else comes along? You can almost set your watch by it...like the media is driving or something.

lmao. absolutely no way this is true when there are guys like lane and freeze that would take this job
Well it appears we are run by a bunch of white knight dumbasses. We white knight the NCAA while they’re in bed with Bama.

If this is the case, then it sucks. However, there are incredibly strong delusions of grandeur in this fan base. If I were a top-level coach at a Power-5 school, there is no way that you could convince me to leave to become the head coach at UT right now because:

1. UT's administration is a mess.
2. The program is going to have likely NCAA penalties, scholarship reductions and potential bowl bans hanging over its head until an NCAA investigation is completed (could be multiple years although the school will likely self-impose penalties in the near-term in hopes of mitigating harsher NCAA-imposed penalties)
3. The team's roster isn't competitive in the conference and is likely to have many of its top players transfer out
4. Recruiting over the next several years will be incredibly hard due to the issues already named combined with the strength of the competition
5. The results on the field are likely to be horrendous over the next few years due to the poor state of the current roster and the aforementioned recruiting difficulties
6. The fan base is going to be prepared to tar and feather you when you aren't able to place in at least the top 3 of the SEC East each year (and even that won't save you after Year 3 in the program).

The thing that will be interesting to find out in the future (if we ever get a true answer), is whether we had offers rejected by Hugh Freeze and Lane Kiffin, or if our administration never made offers to them (which would be a colossal mistake had they actually been willing to accept the offer).

I understand the integrity part and all but if nothing is left why not go after Freeze. The boat has sunk the rats are jumping and all we can worry about it what people think. I don't know about anybody else but we don't have anything left to worry about how we look anyways. I could understand if this was Auburn or Florida or Georgia someone with life to them yes Freeze would not be a good hire but us. We have had 9 losing season in the last 15 years and in trouble with the NCAA what the heck is left for Freeze to screw up if he was going to anyhow?
