I would also say he must have missed the last couple of elections where Rep's voiced their disdain loudly, with their non-votes.

If Congress can force a playoff in college football, then I say fine. At least the corrupt a**holes would have done something right. Congress will not get involved in the playoff issues because there are no lobbyists there to give them money, fwiw.

The Republicans' sudden dose of religion on fiscal conservatism is a political move. In the last year the right had control on Congress, 2006, they increased spending by 50%.

Neither party can call themselves fiscal conservatives at this point. FCs are pretty much limited to the internet, certainly not in Washington or any political office.

Sadly, you're right. These are the "choices" that are thrust upon us and no third party can get enough votes to wake the leadership or lack thereof in the Republican party. The fact they haven't nominated a good candidate for President since Reagan left office makes me sad.

I would settle for some checks and balances right now to lessen the long-term damage to our country.

not true they're just outnumbered by the huge block of leeches who vote themselves a raise at the expense of the taxpayers every couple of years.

Almost everytime I hear about or think about the jokes we have for politicians in this country, I feel like I'm going to hurl. The executive and legislative branches of our government are pathetically inept and corrupt. With the horrible mess they've made of this nation's government and economy, they have no business giving one second of attention to NCAA football.

A playoff won't solve the problem. You'll still have to use polls to determine who makes the playoffs and everyone will still argue about who did and didn't get in.

My suggestion:

Tweek the BCS bowl qualification rules to prohibit BCS bowl participation by:
(1) Any team who plays against any I-AA teams;
(2) Any BCS team who plays more than two non-BCS teams;
(3) Any non-BCS team who does not play at least 3 BCS teams.

That'll get rid of most of the boring patsy games and the tougher schedules will be much more likely to "bring" the two best teams to the top. Maybe add one more BCS bowl game. Then after the BCS bowls, do the BCS rankings and put #1 & #2 in the plus-1 BCS NC game.

The season will be even better (more competitive), we'll get to keep the bowls and we'll greatly decrease the debatability of who should play in the NC game.

We heard the same thing concerning the NBA's age requirement. Every talking head said the NBA would lose that case. We'll just have to see.
