Congratulations to Josh Dobbs

This guy is pure class. Won us quite a few games. Thank you for everything you do in and off the field.

Dobbs was an absolute beast today. Without his effort, this might have been a different game. Bottom line: On Senior Day, and when it counted, Josh Dobbs showed up. Big.

There have been games when it looked like Dobbs was not up to the challenge. Given what we've seen of him at his best, it begs the question as to whether it was the coaching, or the execution. Maybe both.

Having seen JD at his best, and his worst, over the past four years, I could not be any happier to have seen Joshua Dobbs absolutely tear it up in Neyland Stadium today. It made my heart swell to see his Mom and Dad greet him on the field at introductions, and the shots of his Mom watch him play during the game. Made my eyes leak.

That young man is going to do great things. He already has. And he's a VFL. I am grateful that I got to see him play.

Go Josh, and Go Vols.

Thanks for the input, kamoshika! Not trying to be a butt-head, but I think you're accounting for Dobbs's rushing yards gained. You'd need to subtract his yards lost from the yards gained to get the net.

It is currently 1,989 yards.

Criminy! Thanks for the catch, you're right. So he's currently 16th in career rushing behind Hayden (2,061) and Garner (2,091).

And with 2,975 total yards this season, he needs 182 to move ahead of Manning's 4th-place 1996 season (3,156) and 516 to slide into 3rd in front of Ainge's 3,490 in '07.

Apologies for the initial miscues...

No our offense will look much more like 2009 Central Michigan or some of the ones Butch had at Cincinnati. Dormady or JG will throw it down the field more because they are better passers. We intentionally limited Dobbs downfield throws this year because thats not his strength. Thus the Interceptions. However, he makes up for it with his running ability.

Butch's Cincy years are probably most telling.
The year before he took over, Tony Pike was hurt in the middle of the year. Collaros took over for four games. He ended the year at 75% completion, 10 tds, 2 ints, 15.4 per completion. First year under Butch, he completed 58.7%, 26 tds, 14 ints, 12.9 per completion. Second year: 61%, 15 tds, 10 ints, 11.7 per completion. (Starting to see a pattern?)

Year 3: Munchie Legaux started the first 8 games. He completed 52%, 13 tds, 9 ints, 14.3 per completion. Finally, Butch benched him.
He put in Brendon Kay, who had been there 4 years. Kay hit 63%, 10 tds, 2 ints, 14.9 per completion. (Pretty clear that Kay should have been playing all along.)

The next year, under Tuberville, Kay was given a fifth year. He hit 66%, 22 tds, 12 ints, 12.7 per completion. (So, the previous year was no fluke.)

If anybody's expecting a new QB to mean 70%, with a 30-2 td/int ratio, and lots of upfield throws... well, history suggests otherwise.

No worries. I enjoy football stats and am always glad to see others who do.
