SIAP, but the kid made what has turned out to be a very tough kick for him earlier in the game, and also nailed the eventual game winner.

If we are gonna bash him when he misses these, we gotta give him a little love when he hits them.

Good job.

Was thinking the same thing. Good job last night under some big time pressure. Hopefully whatever was bothering him is cleared up and he is good to go for winning out. Nice work.

I pray that he finally shook whatever mental cobwebs he had. He was a highly recruited kicker and is a very talented kicker as he showed a lot of promise last year and did well last night. We can't dwell in the past so good job Aaron!

But but but OP the negavols NEVER bash the players just ask KB, WYLO, BowlingGreen or this guy. LOL
They won't give the kid credit because they don't want us to be successful. Even when we win a close one they complain. They want us to lose so they can say "See I told you Jones can't coach". Being able to say "see I told you so" means a helluva lot more to them than UT winning.

It's ok little buddy we believe in you! Keep trying, we know you can be successful one day!!

I take ownership of first amendment opinion and respect yours. My rationale is that the PK position is unlike any other position in that he's not trying to execute by fighting through holding off line of scrimmage, catching in a mid field route with defenders interfering, etc. The PK is the one position that does not have to be reactive to other players/plays, etc. and, granted, must deal with wind, sub-par field condition, etc....but so do the opposing team

Unless it's a faulty snap or hold (which is easily obvious or on replay), it's all on him. If you're going to ride the freshman love train from coaches/fans, you have to be the man in the sophomore year.

From what I've read, appears to be good guy. But, when you don't execute in a point-producing position, you are costing your team games. And, when your team's success/respect in a top DIV I conference is still evolving, that "do your job" becomes even more pertinent/crucial.

I stand by initial position; when many college PK make the team as a walk-on by proving skill, while scholarships go to multi-skill athletes, Medley was given a scholarship based on specialty camp (non game) perception/affiliation with Wilhoit.

The coronation can begin when he becomes the difference; for now, I'm just happy he is bringing his average up.

Yep, congrats to Medley. Honestly, I had faith in him last night. I don't know why, but going into the game, I felt like he had "shaken his demons."

Ok, but your original post still makes you look like a miserable SOB.

I think Medley has finally adjusted his mindset on kicks. He doesn't need to pull out the Driver on kicks when he only needs a 7 iron. He's got more than enough leg to make 50+ yd. FGs, but often he was kicking the 35-45 yarders with max effort. Beginning with the 44 yarder he made at UK, it seems as though Medley has kicked with far more control than he was showing earlier in the year.

I would like all those that bash Medley to look at the stats for all the kickers back to 1991. There is something interesting that you will see about every one except Walls. That is they ALL went through sophomore slumps. Palardy, Lincoln, Wilhoit, Hall. Every one had a bad sophomore year. I want to know how many people hated all of those kickers then.

Excellent point and stats. To what do you attribute the sophomore slump?

I don't know. Maybe they come in after a great freshman year, they feel like they don't have to work to get better. Maybe they're not used to the added strength they get in the full off-season. All I know is kicking, like hitting a baseball, is so mental that slumps do not need to be treated like many people on here do.

But Medley's 20 of 26 this year is still a better percentage than Lincoln, Wilhoit, and Hall for their respective sophomore years.

Edit: ignore this. The ESPN site changed the numbers for some reason. He's 12 of 20 this year, I think.
