I normally only come on this board during the Bama week but I had to offer my happiness in this hire. Jeremy and I have been friends for a long time. He coached my nephew in HS and was a neighbor of my in-laws. Not only are you getting a good coach you are also getting a GREAT guy. He actually takes care of the players and has their best interest in mind. I think you found a better coach than the ones that were mentioned in the early searches. Should make our TSIO much more exciting. Good luck to Jeremy!

That is refreshing on so many levels. Thank you. It's been a long ugly journey to get to this point. We need some sunshine!

Thanks for your thoughts and good wishes.

Another Bama fan says most are not happy at losing Coach Pruitt.

He also said he's had a good time laughing at Tennessee footVol the last few years and he's been laughing really hard during this coaching search.

That Bama fan said he's not laughing at all now because coach Pruitt is the real deal and that Tennessee footVol will be back as a serious fight again...GAME ON!

VFL...GBO!!!

Semper Fidelis!

Best bar ever, Tun Tavern.

It's a shame that Tennessee is hiring so low. No congrats needed. He'll be back in 4-5 years after it goes south.

Appreciate the kind words. I had a good friend of mine express the same feelings...he unfortunately is a Bama guy as well, but I don't hold that against him...too much!

OP any will CJP embrace all our traditions? I posted the below in another thread. My concern is that he may marginalize our valued traditions.

Make no mistake this guy is a Bama guy thru and thru. We are merely a stepping stone and paycheck. He does not love Tennessee and my bet is he will not be humbled or find it an honor and privilege to lead our valued traditions like:

Reciting General Neyland’s Maxims
Leading the Team on the Vol Walk
Running Thru the T
Singing Rockytop
Touching the "I will give my all for Tennessee today" sign

This is a guy that bleeds crimson thru and thru. I do not like this hire.

Fulmer led us to believe that he was going to get a gut that loved UT. This isn't the guy.

Make no mistake about it Saban is the reason they’re so successful everything about this sorry azz coaching search pisses me off. But I reserved the wait & see approach bc I’m a true Vol & my heart hasn’t healed over the seasons we’ve had in the last decade & now paying a guy over 4 million a yr that’s never been a HC & the fact that he’s a bammer turd is a disgusting thought

I think you are blowing this way out of proportion. Butch wasnt a Tennessee guy, and he embraced all that. Atleast the coach is a southern guy now.

You have to get the best coach out there. Is CJP the guy, only time will tell. Your admin screwed this up from the start and PF had to get what he could. I know JP very well and know he will do a good job if he is allowed to. If PF keeps his hand on him he may not, he needs to let Jeremy do what he can do. He maybe a Bama guy but I know him and he will follow with the traditions of the school he is. Get to know him if you can and you will love him like I do. He is a great guy!
