Congrats Kentucky

we're realistically probably one of the 12-15 best teams in the country which is still nothing to feel too bad about considering where we were a few years ago

I'd say you're selling us short. I have a hard time believing we aren't top 10.

you're 8-9. Good job. You beat a highly overrated team tonight. A team that proved it cannot win a grind-it game and plays out-of-control and stupid at times.

I dont know about the rest of your 1,758 posts but this one SUCKS!!!!
GO TO BED!!!!

scheyer is not a good defender, IMO. sure, he gets after it, but he plays for coach K. of course he gets after it.

If all else fails, every referee owes him two free charge calls nightly.

What's so dumb about saying this team is overrated? This team is indeed overrated. Kentucky is 8-9, nothing dumb about that. I congratulated them and made two points about how this team plays, out-of-control on occasion and obviously, as they proved tonight, can't win a game where it isn't up and down. I don't see anything stupid, dumb or whatever else about that post.

We killed Vandy by 20 and they also lost by 6 at Rupp..thats basketball

The guys played 3 games in the past 6 days against tough competition (two top 25 RPI teams)

do a breathing exercise and step away from the computer for tonight. This team will do nothing but improve, especially after we get Duke back on the floor the next few weeks

you must mean on-ball as in when it's on the rack. Otherwise, you haven't watched either of them defend someone athletic. Scheyer will have his ass handed to him by Ellington and there's just nobody on the UNC team for Singler to guard.

What's UNC got to do with overall defending????????

Singler could guard Green,or Ginyard all day long, possibly even Stevenson. As far as Scheyer goes, he won't be guarding Wayne Ellington, as Nelson or his old high school teammate Henderson will be assigned to...

But back to the point at hand...There's just no way to say at this point at time that Tennesseee could in any way, shape or form, compete with Duke, particularly with a rather lame Chris Lofton.

why not? bring them to TBA and see what happens.

Ramar Paulus
Lofton Scheyer
tSmith nelson
Crews Singler
Chism zoubek??

J smith henderson
JP prince uhhh...? lance thomas...?

not saying we would ABSOLUTELY win, but you can't say "in no way shape or form" we would compete. just cannot. We've gone 18-2 or whatever it is now with a 'rather lame' chris lofton. and lost tonight when he put up twenty.

you have no conception. you're simply buying the newspaper. We have a better player at nearly every position on the floor. We would probably take Nelson over jsmith, but who else would we take in even trade? duke is easily the most overrated team in the country this year.

yeah but 2 of those games were at TBA, you shouldn't use that as an excuse because to make this run to the final four everyone was so sold on, we'll have to WIN 4 in 9 days, all at nuetral sites, and those will be against one cupcake (hopefully), a second round opponent who will likely be comparable to Ohio St. and MUCH better than the KY team that beat us tonight, a sweet 16 team that will likely be of Vanderbilt quality and one other team unlike anything we played over the past week. really this stretch was kind of similar to the first couple weeks of tournament would be like, and sadly we crapped out and lost to terrible KY team

Oh absolutely....anything could happen on any night. I was wrong in saying "in no way shape or form," because it's my belief that these two teams are more similar than meets the eye. Both could lose any night to conference opponents due to complete and utter uncertainty. But in reference to BigPapa, I, for one, without a doubt, don't think that UT is, in, "any way shape or form," better than Duke, to date.

I dunno, lots of similarities.. other than us having the refs in our back pocket, and them not being tested on the road any at all.

3 or 4 guys average double figures
concern about inside presence
get AFTER it
who knows

I'm not talking about to date. I'm talking about the players they put on the floor. Duke is not very athletic, very large or very deep. They live by the 3 and this year's version doesn't shoot it very well.

I'll assure you that I'm not your run of the mill UT sports homer. If we couldn't handle them, I'd have no problem saying it.

Its January! this is when you take the loss, work out the kinks, and move on to the next game.

We'll be fine

Very deep???? If you said very deep in terms of any large post presence whatsoever,m I'd possibly agree with you...but, when you have Scheyer, Smith, King, McClure, etc., coming off the bench, Duke is just as deep as UT, in any certain manner.

Again, in terms of comparisons, you talk about living by the three....and yet again, sound familiar???????

Please tell me why this UT team is superior man-to-man in comparison to Duke's roster.

because it is very simply massively more athletic. massively moreso. that's all.

stupid thread. We are not overrated. We belong in the top 5. Look we just played 3 games in 6 days, all versus tournament teams...yes i think kentucky will end up in the tourney. That is one of the toughest, if not the toughest stretch a team will play all year. We were a tired team and it showed tonight, fair a square. I am disappointed just like everyone else here, but it is only january, we have until march and april to get our stuff together. We will be fine.

And congrats to Chris Lofton!

Congrats Kentucky? For what? UT scheduling too many games together or all the (game-deciding)fouls or no calls that went Kentucky's way.

It was obvious from the game last night that we have 3 times as much talent RIGHT NOW as KY (which makes the loss incredibly frustrating) and that we were extremely tired and lazy out there. No one could really do anything except Lofton at times. And we still were right in it when Tyler Smith launched a three (?). Not sure what that was all about.

But it was also obvious KY wanted it a lot more than we did last night and they took it. Lucky if you ask me, but they played harder than we did and deserved it. It just pisses me off b/c it's KY and no matter how great we do the rest of the year and how bad we punish them in TBA, they will still talk trash. Never give delusional fans an upset. And we might have just turned their d$%^ season around!!!!
