Our defense played well tonight.
Fade, I don't want to burst yor bubble, but everyone that plays us gets to make the exact same statement. I'm just not sure I'd put much as much stock in your D as our O. I mean we put up more on you than we did N. Ill.

I agree 100%. UGA is far from a powerhouse. A few breaks here or there the game would have been a lot closer.

You guys played well but your Striped Shirt UGAly players need all the credit. They can be directly credited for two of your scoring drives. Hopefully, the SEC and NCAA will let us use our Striped Shirt players next year in Ktown.

How do you watch your team get whipped like that and somehow convince yourself that it was due to bad calls?

I agree with the "powerhouse" statement. We've got a lot of getting better to do. But with all due respect, we threw two interceptions in the red zone that lead to UT's 2 TD's. Take those two ints away and turn them in to UGA TD's and the game would have been a rout. We had 29 first downs to UT's 10 and held you to 1 yd rushing. So I have to disagree with your assessment of the game.:hi:

I'll say it again: If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry christmas....that's how it goes, the losing team can always find a way we could've won it. There were horrible calls, yes. We played terrible, yes. UGA didn't play that well so we should have jumped on them...yes.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda. You threw 2 interceptions because our defense occasionally gained moments of awesomeitude (look it up. Okay, don't). But yes, UGA dominated everything but the scoreboard. As usual, our defense kept us in it.

Those were some really bad calls against us, though. It should've been 19-14 or 16-14 instead of 26-14.

Oops, I just did the shoulda thing!

One of the int's you earned, the other was one of the most bone-headed throws Stafford has ever made. If you think 19-14 or 16-14 is the right score for 29 vs 10 first downs and 1 yd rushing, then we're not on the same page. Stats are not very subjective the way we fans are :hi:

How much did that impressive win bump you up in the poles; especially with the losses of several in front of you? What are you now; 1, 2, or 3.

As BPV noted, our offense scored more on your defense that they did on NIU.

The most ugly INT Stafford has ever thrown was the INT for a TD against Florida last year. He just hurled it 20 yds down to field to a wide open...florida CB

If you notice I said "one of the most bone-headed", that FL one definitely comes to mind also. He doesn't throw a lot of them, but when he does they usually make the "lowlight" reels.

agreed. The embarrassing nature of our play was somewhat overshadowed by UGA's inability to capitalize. Stafford is an enormously overrated QB.

I don't consider it an "impressive win" at all. Nor does anyone else. We're about where we belong in the polls. I do think we're better than TTech and BYU but only time will tell. We're not a top 5 team at this point in the season. Hopefully we'll improve the second part of the season as much as we did last year.

Congrats on scoring 2 tds on us. If we don't get better you won't be the last team to do that this season.

Texas Tech is not better but BYU might very well be IMO.

I think BYU is the darling from the west this year that gets pounded when they face an SEC type team in a regular season or bowl game (see Cal, Hawaii, Boise St., Oklahoma St., etc.) We'll see.

If BYU was in the SEC they'd probably have a couple of losses already IMHO.

he passed for 311 meaningless yards Sat and took what we gave him. You might recall the second half of the UCLA game before your coronation of Stafford.

You're going to have to define "meaningless yards" for me. I'm not familiar with that term. For example, were all of the 311 yds. meaningless or just some of them? If a QB puts up 311 on us this season, which very well could happen, I'll be the first to congratulate him, but not coronate him.

we never had him under any pressure to make a big throw. We have him the underneath and seams all day long. Little pressure from our pass rush and wide open receivers made UCLA's third team look like the next coming of Unitas, but he has proven to be much less since then.

I'm saying that taking what the defense freely gives is hardly showing off skill or talent. Our D coordinator has the bend but don't break philosophy and is willing to trade off yards for time or more opportunity for mistakes. We have done this forever and made many QBs appear to be better than they are. JPW from last season's Bama game is the perfect example that Stafford might not put this on top of his resume quite yet. The two horrendous picks to boot made him look silly. He turned a potential blowout into a relatively even looking football game on the scoreboard.

Come on UGA, you all beat us. Of course so did UCLA, and NIU hung with us most of the game....you just got a W, that's it..move on to an important game.

My son was jeered at and cursed at all weekend from dawg fans riding by in cars. While not wanting to paint all fans with a broad stroke, there are a significant number of them that are as classless as bammers. So great, congratulate them; as if we competed in a in any way shape or form. This game was over before it started.

But hey, CPF is a fine and decent family man who bleeds orange and loves UT and will work like heck and will watch the film and fix what is wrong and besides, it is all Clawson’s fault.

It makes me sick that he has brought us to this and these kids (his players) deserve better!

Last time I checked Fulmer was the one who hired him. Fulmer went out and got a guy who was very conservative with his playcalling just what Fulmer wanted. He could have gotten far better but Fulmer chose to hire a 1AA coach.

That section was meant as sarcasm for all the boneheads that want to defend Fulmer.

Think Martinez will even be able to remotely contain that Florida offense?

No...I don't... and I'm not fooling myself into thinking we can outscore them either. Just hope it's not as bad as the Alabama game was.

Martinez and Chavis have the bend don't break mentality that gets both teams nickel and dimed to death. I'd like to see both of them gone.
