You to WoodsmanVol. You've had some great posts through the last few months, and gave the Griz some kudos before last night, so thanks. I also see some of those I've sparred with the last few months like TNScooby, escape goat & lylesmoor giving out nice compliments. Much appreciated, and as I've said before I know those that bleed Orange are very passionate about the Vols, but also great folk in general.

At some point later this year I will make at least one game at Neyland, perhaps not the one I wanted to see, but I do enjoy my times in there.

As far what I saw, I missed the safety. Internet was a mess. Didnt catch much of the 3rd. My comment in regard to starters remaining in was mainly Bray & the receivers. See no more smack from me..lol.

GBO! SEC East would be a nice start.

Thanks for the class and good sportsmanship.:hi: I developed a lot of respect for your team last night. If I was a Grizz fan I would be proud of them today. Also wish we had two of your LBs those guys were the ones making all the tackles, refusing to back down and were in the right place all night. Tripp IMO would definitely play for us.

Also please ignore the humongous richards above who have no class and no clue about sportsmanship. I literally know thousands of Vol fans and the VAST majority are nothing like the guys.

I expected UT's athleticism to cause MT problems. I thought MT's best chance was their experience. That factor showed.

In retrospect, both teams were a near ideal opponent for the first game. MT got to see a level of athleticism they're unlikely to see again this year and did some good things against it. UT got to play a team whose experience challenged them.

In all honestly, I think UT continued to run even knowing that MT had sold out to stop the run. Someone said that UT ran it over 40 times compared to only 26 passes. UT could have adjusted to more balanced playcalling and caused MT alot more problems.

Guess this will be my last post here too. Real happy with how we played, if we can fix some things with our safeties I like our odds for another postseason run in FCS. Considering that was J. Johnson's first start (and really, first game experience at all), I'm real impressed with how he played. That'll be the biggest and fastest D he'll see in his career

Thanks for the classy comments (from almost all of you)

Because it's a slap in the face to think Montana had any chance against us! They play 1 Game this season. Tennessee . Go look at there schedual they never play anyone. They have been here for 5 months talking up Montana . We coulda scored 70 points on them if we wanted but we wanted the run game to click and it wasn't. We will not run Dives with 9 in the box over and over and over against better teams. Now you can kiss there coochee all you can, but don't cry because A few of us don't

". if you don't understand why so many bama fans live in nashville, you are probably pretty dumb. the best are the people who are genuinely upset about it" TennesseeTopHat.

Most of their fans that gave a score prediction had Montana losing. They talked trash because it got some of our fans riled up and they got a kick out of it. I don't see what my post from another thread has to do with anything, unless you think I'm upset about something?

Classy post OD. I knew you guys weren't going to be as bad as a lot of the guys on here thought you would be, but I was still surprised by how well y'all defended the run. Stick around and keep posting, quite a few of us will be rooting for you guys throughout the rest of the season, and good luck in our playoff games! Go Vols!

And you obviously dont understand FCS football. While this was a great for experience for the players and such this was not the most important game for them. Bigger games with defending National Champion Eastern Washington and our cross state rival Montana State loom on the horizon. And of course the big prize is the National Championship. If Montana wins out from here they potentially will host 3 playoff games in Missoula, thats the true prize. We were your scrimmage, and you were basically sort of the same for us but in a different way....the speed and athleticism they faced last night will be of great benefit long term for them.

You believe they only had 1 game this year, haha....we've got plenty more, and a legit shot at a NC. It may be FCS but do you think that our players, coaches and fans mind? Of course not.

You guys have cool pants

Hopefully some of the other Montana posters will post in this thread. No trolls from either side.

Game was pretty close to how I expected it to be. I predicted 41-13 in a couple of threads and it was close. In general, I thought our defense looked great against the run, but the secondary simply could not matchup against the Vols receivers, but we knew that going in. Classy comments from Dooley in regard to how Montana played the game, and how our Seniors stepped up on the defensive side.

On the offensive side, I believe that we found our quarterback in Jordan Johnson. I was very impressed how he handled himself tonight against a SEC opponent and he should have a long successful FCS career. I was surprised out TE's were not utilized more, but have no insight as to why that was, my internet signal kept dropping so I missed half the game. IMO, we should use Jordan Canada as our primary tailback.

I've not looked at the stats yet, but I think overall yardage & first down wise we did fairly well, perhaps better than I thought. I actually thought our defense would put us in better spots to score, and didnt expect the sustained drives.

Our special teams for returns and coverage sucked, just like last year. Nguyen fumbled 4 punt returns last year so I was surprised he was back there tonight, and sure enough he bobbled that first one after the 3 and out.

Congrats to Vol fans, you have a great fanbase - and I really hope you win 9+ games this year. Bray is going to be fantastic. Although you may be disappointed in how the game played out, please realize that we are not UT-Martin, and play in 1 of the 2 toughest FCS conferences in the country (earlier Big Sky foes Sac St beat Oregon State, and Eastern Washington had a chance at Washington).

I hope we both have long successful seasons. Good luck to all, and I'm remaining. Good chance I may move back to Knoxville area by end of year so you cant get rid of me that easily, if the trolls who want me gone...lol.

Thanks for the game from this Griz fan.

Good Post and all very accurate. I was impressed with your defensive line they plugged up the holes and did a great job of playing gaps. I was dissapointed that our OL didn't get more push. I was real impressed with Canada I thought he ran hard and showed some agility, and the Quarterback played pretty well for the pressure he was under, I think there were like 7 hurries or something like that. I know Montana has a good team and had alot of respect for them heading in, didn't think they would win but still had respect. I follow App State and it seems like every year it comes down to those two. You all will have a great season. Thanks for the well wishes. And good luck the rest of the season.

You must not even have a Board for Montana football, My bad i shoulda guessed since most of your time has been spent here. If you think the starters played until 9 minutes in the 4th well so be it. Montana isn't close to any SEC team and these other so called fans can blow your dress up all they like. Thats not for me. But if you see me on a Montana Board saying How great we are then please fill free to give me a hard time. You called me a Troll? You better put your teeth in grandpa and grab your specs. I bleed Orange unlike many of these bandwagon jumpers

"Bleeding orange" doesn't mean you have to act and talk to rival fans in a rude way. GREAT post by OP.

When you trade words with a fool, you are being foolish. UT is my Alma mater & many on here I'm sure appreciate your words and thoughts.

Although a number of posters were very close in predicting the final margin of victory, the manner in which the game played out was quite unexpected. Several Montana posters projected a close first half followed by a second half in which the humidity and UT’s depth would gradually allow the Big Orange to pull away. That was the general scenario which transpired during Montana’s last two games with FBS opponents, Oregon and Iowa. Instead, two explosive touchdowns contributed greatly to a 28-0 first-half lead. Football is such a game of emotion and plays of that magnitude often transform momentum into an uncontrollable avalanche, particularly for the visiting team. Given Montana’s success over the last twenty years, I would think that trailing early by four touchdowns is an utterly foreign experience.

Instead of wilting, however, the Griz responded with an 80-yd. strike of their own, which undoubtedly provided a huge lift going into halftime, and they outscored us 16-14 over the last 33 minutes of the game. The fact that Montana did not allow early adversity to spiral downward into a truly ugly rout is a tribute to their pride, experience and tenacity.
