Great game today.
At first, I was kind of pissed about the officiating. However, after looking at the box score, the calls were even. As a matter of fact, if you take out TX's fouls in OT to put TN on the line, it was probably more than even on TX's part.
It was a surreal experience because I was pissed on the inside during the 2nd half because our two best players were forced to the bench because of fouls YET the Vol fans were screaming at the officials as well. I've never been to a game in which both sides were overtly upset at the officiating.
The bottom line is that it wasn't the officiating that cost us the game. (I hope I didn't give the impression in my first two paragraphs.) TX was up 5, with the ball with about 90 seconds left. The funny thing was that I was jokingly yelling at the TX players to guard Lofton 10 feet beyond the 3-point line on that final possession. Maybe the defense should have extended to more like 15 feet. Anyway, I can't believe he hit that shot. Actually, I've seen him hit that shot many times.
The fans today were great. I appreciate the kind words from most of those around me and my 9 year-old daughter. I hate that I had to root against the Vols as they are quickly climbing up my ladder of teams to root for. My wife and most of my friends graduated from TN over the past 3 years.
I wish the series was yearly. Good luck the rest of the way. Maybe we'll meet again in the Final 4 or something. Both teams can only get better as they are two of the youngest teams in the NCAA.
