I don't understand something. Why would big name coaches like (rumored) Shannon and (rumored) Bisaccia come to coach under Dooley. I know Tennessee fans want a great hire, but this doesn't make sense. It goes along with the exodus of coaches from UT. Shannon even as a head coach has a better record than Dooley right now.

Why not? If you are any coach worth your salt you know you can come in and turn things around. People do know that Dooley is not the one that does everything within the football program right? You know the DC implements his own schemes. The OC does the same. The position coaches teach their own techniques. The head coach is only as good as his assistants.

Tennessee has some of the nicest facilites in the nation, there is money to go around for the right person. Most live in blount county, that is a nice area to live. One could actually say this is a great place to coach.

I don't care who it is at this point. We need a good DC in place at least by Wed. or say by to more recruits. Dooley better not go into this weekend empty handed. The more time that goes by without a hire, the more I feel like another let down is coming for volnation.

So in other words, Dooley sucks and anyone worth a damn won't/shouldn't work for him. Is that what you're saying?

I think CRS needs to take a HDC so it restores his dominance....at a big school like UT...but I’m sure the only schools interested is smaller name schools...so I think it would be a good fit...no matter who it HC

That is one of the problems. What if next season doesn't go well and one of the assistants think they can take advantage. Its happened at Tennessee before.

Nobody on the current staff has anywhere near the tenure or following that Fulmer had.

I was talking about if they hired a coach with the prestige like Shannon. Would Dooley put himself in that position? I think he's smarter than that. Seems like now days there are no loyalty in sports. If it wasn't for the problems in Miami he would still be coach there.

That sounds like the tail.is wagging the dog. Its up to dooley to make sure tactical thing are in line with the overall strategy. Im surw two loosing season weren't in his tactical plan. And to be honest any flagship campus university has nice facilities.

You know what would be interesting? If we could take a poll of the coaches that just left and are trying to leave to see what they would say.

interestingly enough, no 'big name coach' has been hired. You may be on to something.

I saw a post on here earlier today that CHH was interviewing with ND for the same job he currently has here. My question is if he takes the job who would we be looking at to replace him.

Dooley hired Wilcox and Graham and was forced to keep Chaney, based on his hires since he has been coach he has done decent so there is no need to think he would go after someone who is terrible.

I don't think he will go after anyone terrible. I just think it will be another young up and coming coach. I don't have anything against Dooley. I just think he is smart enough to hire someone that will not be looking over his shoulder. I don't see too many homerun coaches lining up to come to Tennessee at the current time. Hope wrong though.
