If he could have just swallowed his pride, he would have seen it would have been better to have retired the previous year after making it to the SEC championship and winning the bowl game instead, of staying an additional year and making a greedy $6mil money grab.

how about this:

a great man and good football coach. he was no genius, but he was as good as we could have hoped for in 1992 when he took over. i believe the game has evolved and he has not. i would rather deal with this every 16+ years than to have a coach that tries to change every time a new fad arises.

so we get what we get. MANY good years and a very few bad ones.

i am ready for a change. i am saddened by the change.

Of course you can. I just wish that we could all respect the man while looking forward to better days ahead.

Today, is a sad day for me.
Tomorrow, I look forward to the excitement of a fresh start.

I guess the bottom line is wins and losses; the modern era of Tennessee Football begins and there are many ways it could go.

I think a new coach, regardless of backgroud would go a long way with the faithful if he were to embrace at least some of the history of the program. Pearl has helped his case with the orange blazers. Respect for those who came before him and publicly embracing the maxims would be one way to do this. If he doesn't win, it won't matter, but it would help to embrace part of the past.

Well, I remember when PF took over and it was one of the most exciting days in my Vol history. Along with great talent and a very good staff he brought us the greatest decade we have ever seen. Things started down after that but he really thought he could take us back to the top. He couldn't and I bet it hurts him much more than any of us or the players! Some called him greedy and some called him selfish. I didn't agree. He simply wanted to take the love of his life (TN football) back to the promise land.
I was one of his long time supporters but realized this year that it was finally time for new blood. Will it be better? Who knows. Will it be worse, probably not. So, we might win more games next year with a new coach but it's for sure that coach will never have the love for this program like coach Phil Fulmer!!!!

Thanks coach for pounding your body on the field for us. Thanks for spending decades coaching us. Yeah you got paid well but you did something special for all of us.

I agree. It has to be terribly painful for Fulmer. I'd like to see him win out the rest of the season to go out on a better note. If we lose the rest of our games, he might need Secret Service protection to get out of the stadium on Nov. 29th.

Any anger towards the man should be over and done with at this point regardless how the last three games go.

Let hold his head high the last three games.

The fans booing more or and negativity can only hurt at this point, we've already got what we want.
