Hell no!!!! Funk that noise...Thompson would be 10 times the DC Spangle would. Thompson was already a DC for a better school than where Spangler is coming from.

Plus he is a big time SEC recruiter and a Monte Kiffin disciple. Somebody is going to snag LT as a DC if we don't put him there first. In fact, there are few that I would want to see ahead of LT...and they ain't coming. Georgia made a run at them and got them a nice raise where they are. Bud Foster being one of them.

LT will be a hell of a DC...just watch....if we can recover some of this class. Hard to do with us hiring an underqualified candidate.

echo.....echo.......echo. Does your momma know you're using the computer?

:good!:

Texas Tech Fan here.

A note to tell you that Eric Russell improved our special teams performance a great deal from past years.
I don't personally know him but wish it had worked out that he stayed here. Russell previously worked for Dooley and Dooley thought enough of him to rehire him.
Best of luck in the tough SEC.

Thanks for the input Mesquite, glad to hear he brought good results. Hope we get the same. And and welcome to the volnation.

Not getting why McNair would still want to come here when the guy he was going to work for is now his coach

Have you given this notion any thought:

Maybe Kiffin was USC's desperation move. If I'm not mistaken they whiffed on a couple of other guys before CLK got the call. In effect, they settled just like UT did.

UT probably offered the job to what you called "more promising" coaches. Well, those high demand guys saw the risk in the situation and said no. It wasn't a general slap or rejection of UT or Hamilton. Simply put... this is a really, really high risk job at this particular point in time. There's a lack of depth and talent on the current team. We all know the lurch CLK left UT recruiting in by leaving when he did.

The best possible thing you can do is stop running Dooley down. Best case, he's prayed up and we see divine intervention. Worst case, he does poorly but stablizes the team and the next guy can move the program forward. In any case, you aren't helping anyone including yourself by hanging on to the preconception that the guy is destined to fail.

If Dooley makes a run for Garner, which im being told he will, then it would be a co DC deal between Garner and Thompson.

FYP no way they let joseph coach LB by himself.

Thompson may mentor him but UT can't afford not to have all hands on deck and doing their jobs. You can't have liabilities or OJT in the SEC. I'm not exactly sure how they'll do it and keep both.

La Tech last year had Terry Joseph coaching CB while someone else coached S position. so Thompson will DC/LB or the DL coach will be DC. best case scenario would be on defense with the Garner speculation
Co DC/LB Thompson
Co DC/DL Garner
CB Joseph
S Garza

only thing i see about splitting the DB positons is Russell would either have to coach TE along with ST or maybe Coach Dooley coaching TE. or we wouldn't have a only TE coach since can have 9 assistant coaches plus the HC

HC Dooley
OC/QB Chaney
RB
WR
OL/TE
DC/DL
DC/LB Thompson
CB/ Recruiting Cord
S Garza
ST Russell

As I've said in the other many, many threads you spew the same thing over & over again. I'm not trying to change your mind or say you aren't entitled to your opinion... but please stop spewing your same old crap over & over & over again. Like him or not...CDD is the head ball coach....deal with it...all your not stop whining is going to change that fact.
GO VOLS!!!!!!!!

Charlie Baggett is an excellent hire. The dude has NFL experience that falls just short of that of Kippy Brown.

Baggett, a graduate of Michigan State University, most recently served two seasons as assistant head coach in charge of wide receivers under Nick Saban at the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. During that time, he coached Chris Chambers to his most productive season of his six-year NFL career. Chambers, who caught 82 passes for 1,118 yards and 11 touchdowns, became the first Dolphins wide receiver to be named to the Pro Bowl since Irving Fryar in 1994.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but has it been confirmed that Chaney is staying on the staff? It appears that way but I was wondering if Dooley or Chaney have said anything about it.

Yeah, Chaney told Fulton's parents he was being kept.

So if Chaney is coaching the O line and is the OC, who is coaching QBs? I am assuming that since Chaney coached the OL last year that he will again this year too.

Cregg coached tackles and TE and Chaney coached C and G.... or at least that is what I thought the deal was.
