I know there's a thread on this already, but I felt that this needed its own because its information I got from the University itself.

So I stopped by the student ticket office today while I was over on campus. When I asked I was told that the Ticket method for students this year is this:

Students will purchase their tickets at http://bigorangetix.utk.edu/, then print them out and take them to the game. I did inquire about season tickets and was told that, while it has not been confirmed, student season tickets will not be available this year, the powers that be are still trying to reach a decision on that.

No word on when student tickets go on sale or when they will be available for each game.

If they're doing print-out tickets, I don't see why they can't have a season tickets option. It makes more sense for those of us who plan to attend every home game to only have to buy tickets once instead of having to order eight times.

I couldn't agree more. It is going to be a pain in the A to go through every week to get the tickets, but it's all good, as long as I can get tickets I am happy.

Thanks for finding out the real answer volin

I'm really hoping they have a season option as well. All we'd have to do is drop our 100 or so dollars at the beginning of the season, then have the tickets emailed to our school email accounts each week to print them.

Oh and FYI, I forgot to mention, Away games are to be purchased in the same manner. That means that if they're putting them on sale like a week before each game, I will not be in class while waiting to get tickets for Gainesville.

To anyone that has ever bought away student tickets, what is the usual ballpark price on them? and also can you buy away game seats together?

On the home game topic, there has to be a way to get tickets by your friends. I don't see how they are going to do that with us printing them out.

I liked last year's setup so much better. It honestly seemed perfect. I really don't know what to expect of this setup.

Last year was the first year that students were charged for tickets. The prices last year were either $15/game or $90 for the whole season. I don't know what the cost is for away tickets as I've never bought tickets to away games.

I agree with you. I didn't have a problem with last year's system. But it seems we're in a very small minority on that.

The biggest problem that I had with the system last year was that a season ticket holder couldn't get tickets with someone that only bought a single game ticket unless they waited several days for the single game ticket holder to be able to pickup their ticket.

I was hoping they'd come up with a way to go paperless so that all I needed was to swipe my student ID to show I had bought a ticket and be able to go in. I guess they don't trust us to remember our given seats and actually sit there and instead they believe that having a sheet of paper will make people more likely to sit where their seat is supposed to be. Oh well. As long as I get to go to the games and there is enough space to cram in with my friends I'm all good!

They used to do a lottery for away game tickets, and if you won you had the option to purchase 2, at the face value for whatever school it was. I won Bammer tickets one year and paid around 40 a piece I think.

So I stopped by the student ticket office today while I was over on campus. When I asked I was told that the Ticket method for students this year is this:

Students will purchase their tickets at Big Orange Tix | Student Ticket Sales, then print them out and take them to the game. I did inquire about season tickets and was told that, while it has not been confirmed, student season tickets will not be available this year, the powers that be are still trying to reach a decision on that.

No word on when student tickets go on sale or when they will be available for each game.

Go again next week. The answer will change.

They don't because a lot of people wouldn't sit in their assigned seats. You can't get 60 year old men to do it in the rest of the stadium... i assure you there would be serious problems if they did that with the students.

One of my friends was one of the founders of the student Orange Nation. He eventually came around to admitting it wasn't a good idea and completely unfair. Did not know it dissolved, that's good to hear.

Orange Nation has not dissolved (to my knowledge), but I do know that they lost their seating block starting with last year.

No student season tickets? ?? Are you serious?? :eek:hmy:

Not 100% sure. The lady said it wasn't set in stone yet, but most likely there would be no season tix for students. I'm more concerned about how much the tickets are gonna cost.

There was nothing lost in waiting though. The tickets were random and I can't tell you how many times I got worse tickets than somebody else who got them near last minute. And the beauty of the system was that I could wait and still be guaranteed my ticket. There were some lines previous years that would require either an early morning wake up (I went at 5am to get in line for Florida and FSU in 2006) or a long wait during class times. Last year I would go a couple of days later, wait for a minute, and get my ticket. You could argue it takes a fan to wait or get up early, but after last year, I know I'd rather not. I do enough to show my fandom. And I also like priority, but lately it hasn't been a factor at all. Paying for tickets really weeded out a lot of soft fans. And I guess I should mention none of these systems are bad, after all, some teams, like Texas, it's a crap shoot to get a ticket. We are pretty lucky here.

Here's hoping they don't raise the prices too much.
