These so called "insiders" sure do have some explaining to do.

I honestly feel bad for the Vol fans that truly bought in to them. Got them excited that we were gonna get a coach they felt was fantastic. No, this isn't sarcasm either. We all bleed orange here, and the fact that some of these "insiders" would spout such bull**** to get our fans worked up.

Like I said in another thread, though, this, if anything good comes from it, will teach fans not to trust these bull**** "insiders" that post on a message board and have no true contacts inside of UT.

hahahahahahahahahahaha!

Would some of you pull it together? He was never going to be our coach, never wanted the job. What do you want to do FORCE HIM? Jesus. We want someone who WANTS to be the coach here.

The only time Jon Gruden was mentioned for this job was by all of you looney bins that couldn't handle any other name.

Take off your blinders, come back to the reality. If you can't handle it...root for Memphis

I think this has to be good enough for everyone. If the man does not want to be here there isnt anything we can do.

Seems like he is saying this bc apparently we didn't offer him....sorta like when a recruit chooses another school we say " we didn't want him anyway"

we are insulting ourselves while the rest of the world laughs at us.....we should just let it go

we are insulting ourselves by allowing ourselves to get played.

The Media are making us their puppets. Whether or not they know it, we are all someone's puppets if you believe it's not happening.

This is no more emphatic than Sabans' denial of taking the Alabama job.

This is a cover up. If I'm wrong I will admit it freely. But until then, I'm not buying anything.

So basically with all the insider info and all these sources everyone had it turns out that the "Gruden will never come here" crowd was right all along. Gee, I'm shocked.

His agent has come straight out and said he has no interest in the job. It's not just some reporter speculating. It's real. It sucks, but it's true.

Gruden would be a bad hire and this poster on Mr. SEC has it spot on..

"Here we see again that the Gruden dream just won't die. This guy plays around with teams every offseason to get ESPN to come up with some more cash for him OR to get the best NFL coaching job available. Any Tennessee fan who actually wants

a guy like that to be coaching his team gets what's coming to them. Even if he came to Knoxville (he's not, I don't believe it whatsoever), each offseason would be a 'will he or won't he' circus about the NFL head coaching offers. You don't want the

head coach of the University of Tennessee Football team to be constantly looking for something better. The fans who care about the tradition and history of this team want a coach who wants to be here, who wants this to be their dream job.

If Gruden was hired, you're gonna see another ridiculous burning mattress tirade by people in Knoxville in January 2014 when Gruden accepts an NFL coaching gig and leaves the Vols in another horrible position."

Media members are only reporting what they're being fed. And what they're being fed is crap.

How else do you explain the most reliable reporters in Knoxville ALL having different explanations for why this fell through, and all within 72 hours.

Dude, get real. Something is going on here. This discrepancy and error does not ever happen unless it is cleverly designed to.

Chris Low also reports that Gruden told UT officials last week that he was not interested. The funny thing about everything that's coming out now is that Reports from low and Grudens agent are now conflicting. Grudens agent has said that he never spoke with anyone from UT or Tennessee for that matter until today. I'm not saying Gruden is coming , but I will say that something don't smell right here .

I dont get this whole deal. Why has it taken over a week for the agent and UT to deny the rumor?

Because there was nothing to deny till recently. Almost all the rumors were backed by absolutely no sources. Only one of them was reported by a mainstream media outlet and it was immediately shot down.

From Gruden's carefully worded statements in an interview recently, my guess is that he's still interested in coaching in the NFL. And for that reason, maybe he's been reluctant to make a definitive statement that he's not interested in coaching.

What's likely true is that Gruden really is committed to MNF --- but he would consider coaching a Super Bowl contending NFL team. He's probably not interested in college and he's not interested in NFL also-rans.
