Guarantano believes he's improved from being "just a gunslinger" seeking completions to understanding the value of commanding an offense and leading on and off the field.

Beyond who has the best arm or who's the best fit for an offense now under the control of promoted coordinator Larry Scott, the quarterback who draws the greater response from his teammates likely will emerge with the job.

Guarantano's confidence makes it hard to believe it won't be him, but earning the job will be easier said than done. "You always want to look forward," he said. "I always catch myself looking at Georgia Tech and that new Atlanta dome, but I know that each day is a blessing and I know each day I have to come out and get better, better myself and my teammates. It's hard coming out here (and not pressing), because you know that every single little action's being watched and being filmed, but we came here to be the best. That's what it's going to take."

The QB situation in terms of us as fans is rock solid.

However I don't envy the coaching staff or QD. The media and fans are so lopsided in the corner of JG that is QD gets the nod he will be scrutinized in the most unfair of ways for his entire career.

We can talks X's & O's till we are all blue in the face and, we can read every daily thread or newspaper article about their maturation process but, nobody will have ANY clue how they will perform till our first kick off.

In the meantime, can we all bow our heads and pray??

I am pretty sure the average Vol fan doesn't give a sh!t.

I bet over half of Vol fans couldn't even tell you the actual full names of either QB, and definitely couldn't pronounce either.

Forums and dedicated Vol media are the only people who even know we are having a QB competition.

May the best man win. And the people who are around the two guys the most, know best. Whether it be D or G or both, let the people who surround themselves and engulf their lives in the everyday battles make the decision.
