I'm sorry, I no longer bother with the Dobbs debate.
I have what the people whose job it was, had seen and decided on one hand. On the other hand, a couple of theories of what fans think happened or was seen. If the source isn't a deciding factor then debates will never be decided. I don't know about Janceks comments. I only saw him refer to Dobbs being hard to tackle. I didn't see any comments about QB ability. Not saying there were none, I just didn't see them.

Understood. I don't bother with it either, except in wondering if FL could have stopped Dobbs, in looking forward to who of the 3-4 backups will not be RS'd this year, in case we need the best #2 to run a few live-game service plays for winning a few similar-type games --

“Josh has been ripping us on defense for the last few weeks,” Janceck said. “We played Utah State, we played Arkansas State, we played Alabama now with an athletic quarterback. We do these things called service periods when the offense run plays for us and the defense runs certain plays for the offense. When we were facing these athletic quarterbacks, we were saying, ‘Man, we want Dobbs back there.’ I’ll tell you what, we were running some plays at our defense, we were running the jet sweep, and pulling linemen, going back the other way, he’s faking the jet, Dobbs is taking off and going the other way, and we were like, ‘We can’t tackle this guy.’ So to have an athletic quarterback is so challenging.”

I believe now Dobbs could have won the game. But don't know if I would have felt the same from practice then.

I honestly thought Jancek was just talking about trying to tackle him or any really mobile QB. Not his ability to complete passes. But that's just an opinion, I wouldn't mind if he explained that one. lol

Basically, because that's not exactly how football matchups work.

Florida's d-line I think, particularly at home, can get the best of Tennessee's o-line.

If there is one position group where Florida has quality and depth, it's in the defensive backfield....particularly at CB.

So, defensively, I think Florida matches up well with Tennessee's offense.

The concern for Florida is how are they going to put up points. A concern that has been the case for going on 5 years now. I will be interested in what a new staff can do. While I do not expect great things, I am willing to bet that with a new QB (probably Grier), the offense can only be better. How much better? Who knows?

However, I have thought the offense can't be this bad again for a few years now only to be amazed by their ability to actually get worse.

It's dumb to think that we would lose to Florida this year based on what has happened in the past. It's clear that neither team is the same. I really wouldn't be surprised if we won this game by 20+.

Has Tennessee ever beaten Florida in Gainesville by more than 20 points?

I think you have to go back to 2002 when UT beat Vandy 24-0 (I think).

I can't recall UT ever beating UF by more than 20 points.

Wonder what the non-Vandy, non-Kentucky answer to the road game question would be.

I've got South Carolina in 1998. That South Carolina team lost to Vandy and Kentucky.

I don't know if there is a more recent one.

In conclusion, if Tennessee beat Florida by more than 20....

(A) Tennessee will win the national title.

(B) Florida will lose to Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

It all makes sense when you break things down scientifically.

The closest to 20 somewhat recently was in 2006 as well, we beat UGA 51-33 in Athens.

In looking this stuff up, it doesn't happen a whole lot period. Even during the 90's. Even against Vandy and Kentucky. Most of the games, that were on the road, were fairly competitive (at least on the scoreboard).

In 1995, Tennessee went 11-1. Beat Kentucky on the road by 3. Beat Vandy at home by 5. 1996, Beat Vandy on the road by 7. Lost to Memphis by 4.

How the hell did you all have Peyton Manning and let these teams hang around? Did they forget their helmets and pads and played the games in their street clothes?

IDK how it works sometimes. Look at your game against KY last year compared to ours... Just doesn't make sense.

Tennessee has never really been an offensive "juggernaut."
