Ok smart guy ,
Let's try another analogy....
One doesn't have to be Michael phelps to know another is an average swimmer.
And also as an avid shooter, I can tell you why a sniper is off a few inches by looking at the conditions, cosign of his angle, and movement. One also can't judge based upon a single shot, but if follow up shots and total groups are scattered they will come into question
Well, Sobe, I agree with one thing you said: if all you're looking at is
results, you can judge how successful a guy is. So you are certainly qualified to determine whether Phelps won the race (unless it's a photo finish or he got disqualified without you realizing it). But if you're thinking you can analyse his flip turns and determine whether he's shaving a hundredth of a second, or losing a hundredth, well, you might be fooling yourself, unless you actually are Michael Phelps' trainer/coach.
Wins and losses are the results that matter for football coaches on Saturdays. So yes, you can judge whether Butch is successful or not, by how many games we win. At that macro level, you're absolutely right.
But if you think you can judge whether he and his coordinators called the right play at any given point in the game, and whether he's doing all the right things to maximize the chances of our players outperforming the other team's players, well...you and I aren't qualified for that level of analysis of his abilities. We have fun doing it anyway, but we should be honest with each other about how capable we
really are at it...not very.
Not in real time, at least. If you're a high school or college football coach, like LWS or 8188, I think you could certainly analyze the game after the fact, and figure a lot of it out. Maybe you're at that level. I sure know I'm not.
