Has a head coach ever announced they were leaving a school prior to a conference championship game? Is it even proper protocol to do that?

I have never heard of it. And honestly, it would not be a good look for wherever that took place imo.

Exactly, maybe if we don't have a coach by Saturday night, we may get a Big Orange surprise on Sunday! :good!:

According to today's poll 91% of Volnation wants to bring Lane home. How do they ignore that if they care about Tennessee fans at all?

Different sport but the closest thing to it I can remember is: Right before the '89 NCAA tournament started Bill Frieder told Bo Schembechler the Arizona State job had been offered to him and he'd be taking it once Michigan's season was over. Bo fired him on the spot because "A Michigan man will coach Michigan". He made Steve Fisher head coach. Michigan went on to win the title.
