My projection, at this point, is that two of the at-large BCS teams will be Georgia and Texas, teams that did not even make it to their respective championship games. I think Tennessee will beat Vandy and Kentucky and lose to LSU, while Oklahoma will beat the winner if the Mizzou/Kansas showdown.

I really think the BCS should not penalize the teams that are second in their conference i.e. losers in their championship game, but should be required to select the team that is the higher ranked in the BCS poll before the conference championship game. Obviously, this year Georgia would be likely selected over UT but I don't think Texas would get in.

This is also what i think but the BCS has always been screwed up...I would just like to see what would happen if both Kansas and Oregon win out...

The BCS has always been screwed up.. I think last year with Boise state was a perfect example. They finshed the year undefeated and had no chance at the chamionship game. It could happen with Kansas this year as well.

They didn't deserve a chance at the championship game. Not with the teams they were playing.

They would have gotten rocked by Florida or tOSU.

They probably would have, but by that point, it only comes down to 1 game where they have to "shine" (play good, get lucky, have the other team play bad, etc) It happens. Teams can storm through an easy schedule, play lights out in one game, and BAM!! National Champions

Or to state it another way, give any group of young men 10 practice games and they could very well get lucky against a team that has been playing real competition with very little time to "experiment" and get the younger guys playing time, not to mention the injuries that come after real competition.

These nobody schools are basically getting a bunch of scrimmages in a time when the elite schools get like 15 full pad practices to work from before facing real challenges.

If Kansas wins out they will have beaten 2 top 5 teams at the end of the year and will be in the BCS title game no doubt about it. Wins over #4 Missouri and #3 Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game would do it.

Bottom line is GA HAS to lose to KY for FLA to have a chance, and then they still need help, and still must beat FLA State.

As I see it there is no downside for the Vols going to ATL, even to get blown out (which would suck but it would still be better than the alternative).

ATL plus a crappy bowl is better for the program than just a crappy bowl (which we would be headed to in the event of a loss in either of our last 2 games).

Getting to ATL is another chance to develop youth in a big time game, national exposure, another week of fun while everyone is sitting around looking stupid, and $$$. Not to mention Fulmer will be going to his 5th SECCG in 10 years, which while may not quell the negateers, will certainly bring him back next year in good form, with a good team. Not to mention we could win!

All I got to say is -- WE ARE TENNESSEE!!!

GO VOLS Beat Vandy!!!

I lot of people said they would get rocked by oklhoma.. I am not so sure they could have beat florida last year but I think would have had a chance vs OSU.

I really dont like the strength of schedule arguement when you have teams like ND who would certianly go to a BCS game with any sort of decent record. Its hard to say who really " deserves" a shot at the championship game. All these kids can do is win the games they play. These schedules are made out years in advance. Teams that were top 10 teams last year may not be so good this year.
Howeverve all this being said it brings me to the point I was trying to make about the BCS. They should make some sort of playoff system.. Then who "deserves" to go would at least be a little more clear.

If Kansas wins out, they will go before Oregon. Oregon can thank the PAC 10 for not having a title game. It should be mandatory the super conferences have a title game. Too bad, I believe Oregon has the best team in the nation and the most playmakers. It would be a great game watching a great offense go against a great defense.

you want to really screw things up?

how 'bout we just go in and win the SEC title game.

we go to the Sugar bowl. LSU is out of the title game. do they get an at large bid? can the #1 team after a loss in the SEC title game fall far enough to be behind GA? i for one doubt it. so by winning, we not only go to a BCS game, we eliminate GA from going anywhere named BCS and there is some team out there.....likely Oregon or OK/KS/MO or WVU that is saying "thank you" to Big Orange Nation.

i for one would love it. talk about people freaking out. :)

I agree they should have conference title games. to make matters worse sometimes its better to not be in the conference title game at all. If you get to your title game but then lose your likley fall in the ranking under the people who you beat to get to the title game.

what would yall do if they selected UGA to go to the SECCG instead of UT because they felt UGA would be a better matchup with LSU

I think a trip to the SECCG would boost this team's confidence going into next season, which is always a good thing.

I'm not sure that if Georgia wins their next two games convincinly (?sp.) and if UT should beat LSU by more than a touchdown that Georgia doesn't get the at large bid for the BCS over LSU. Remember 2001 we were #2 and headed to the Rose Bowl until LSU beat us in the SEC championship. We didn't even get an at-large BCS bid (Florida got it) and we played Michigan in the Capital One bowl.

My point is; I think the loser of the conferences championships should not be penalized for losing, and thatthe BCS Bowl bid should be decided before the championship games.

Although it sucked not getting a BCS bid it was great kicking Michigan's as@. I will never forget Whitten running away from the Michigan secondary.

I agree though, we beat Florida in 2001 and should have been in front of them for a BCS bid.
