Why is it that I don't want Mullen at Tennessee, but I don't want to see him at Florida?

Imo, because he is Richt part 2.
Don't feel like he would win you a championship but know he would beat you often.

You act as if the UTAD is emotionally invested in the football program.. I don't think that's the case.

Exactly.

It's a line item in the budget for most of the people there now.

Are they gonna win enough to keep the seats full and donations rolling in. That's the only concern.

SEC and NCAAF could be in serious Turmoil this off-season with coaching changes.

Tennessee
Florida
Arkansas
aTm ?
Vandy ?
Mizzou ?
I wouldn't consider Orgeron and Malzahn to be very safe either

Outside of SEC:

Nebraska
Now Florida State has issues

Add in teams expected to lose HCs to other teams:

MissSt: Mullen
VT: Fuente
Memphis: Norvell
Cal: Wilcox?
IowaSt: Campbell
Purdue: Brohm?

That is because the UT admin is ran by people who don't give two ****s about sports

Why? Because they aren't being reactionary and firing Butch when you want them to? Maybe the AD knows he's not going to be able to get a replacement until the season ends. Maybe there are contractual nuances that would save UT a lot of money by waiting until a certain point in time. Yeah, I know fans don't give a flip about a million here or a couple million there since it's not their money and we always think we can run to deep pockets among the boosters to write a check ala haslam. Sure let him write the check but them step aside and don't get in the way of our coaching search. Just write the checks and stand aside, right?

Maybe he wants to give the seniors every opportunity to make a bowl game. Maybe he's wanting prospective replacements to know UT isn't reactionary and will give a coach every opportunity to turn things around before pulling the plug. It lets them know if they uproot their family and come to UT, it's a stable and good place to work and build a career. I know I'd not make a move if my boss was a demanding hothead prone to rants snap decisions. Fans sometimes....no...often forget there are a lot of considerations to take into account n both sides of a coach/AD/school relationship. It's not PlayStation. It's real life which many of the more youthful fans have yet to learn much about. They're prone to want instant gratification and make decisions that are poorly thought out....if they bother to think at all.

Three words:

Early Signing Period
They apparently don't care about that or he'd be gone already. One class shouldn't decide it anyway. Getting the right guy is more important. Now, let it go this way ,trash the class and hire another Jones, they can go ahead and order some tarps for the upper deck next year..

Don't worry, Bobo will still be there after all the big time programs hire a coach.

We will be the only program to have a dodo (Dooley) and Bobo within a decade . And yes, a Bobo hire would set UT back almost another decade

I think some folks might have forgotten just how effective the offense was under Dooley. While it takes great recruiting and a host of other staff to put together a potent offense, Chaney and Pittman work very well together. And, Smart is starting "to get his legs" as a head coach---as a Defensive guy, he's turning over the offense to his coaches and he's not getting in their way.

Even though the biggest jump a new head coach makes is typically in year two, I agree with the OP. Smart is creating a lot of positive buzz around UGA right now. Unless something changes at UT, the gap between our two programs will only get wider.

I got this off of sec rant, there is more rumors on that site about Mac being fired Sunday morning and they reaching out to other good coaches. We better get on the ball! 😖😡

No use in hurrying. Gruden would never coach there. :)

They apparently don't care about that or he'd be gone.

So explain to me how firing Butch in the middle of the season would save this class? Did these players not commit to Butch and this staff? When you fire a coach mid season, you basically pull the plug on the staff, too. You may have an interim but unless he's got a legit chance to get the head coaching job, the assistants are not focused on the team or coaching. Instead, they're starting to network and look for their next job. Kids committed know they're not going to be playing for the guys they developed a relationship with. Many will start taking visits and looking around. You get going down the road of a coaching change and the class is gone or at least iffy at best.

It don't matter. Read the rest. You can make your case. We'll see in the end what they do.. If it's another Jones then you can stop justifying their every move. If they hire someone of note then you're right. You don't know. I don't know. It's all guesses. All we have to go on is how they've done things in the past. Being on top of stuff and ahead of the game hasn't been what they do up there. Hope they change it.

It's no secret theres a lot of higher ups that want Mac out sooner than later.
Resident Gators have posted about It in the AA forum

They'll go all in for Kelly or Mullen

Frost would be there man. I would hate to see him in Gainesville. Kiffin would kill it there as well.

I should have gone to Vegas a month and a half ago when I predicted these didn’t have long.

Although, even I didn’t necessarily think it would be this season

That's because:

1) as Gator fans we expected this season the offense woukd show signs of life, and

2) no one knew Mac would make these weird claims about death threats.

No I agree that this class isn't going to hold, but I've seen it posted many times that we need to fire Butch now and name an interim if we are to save the class. Just don't see how that's possible. No matter when UT makes the move, the class is going to lose kids. Hell, UT hasn't fired the man and already kids are looking around. First to go will be the players who really weren't sold on UT but were holding a spot. Many will wait to decommit but start visiting in order to see who UT brings in. They also know the new guy may not want them either. There is simply no way a coaching change takes place and a class remains intact no matter when the change takes place. That's why change hurts so much. It sets you back not only with the current class but with future classes as well. Those relationships had already been started and developed. New guy will be starting over but have kids he already knows as a starting point. A change hurts and sets a program back. Granted, we are headed in the wrong direction and Butch needs to go, but there was always a price that was going to have to be paid regardless of when the change comes. I've watched UT since '65. This is always how it goes....always.
