Concerning message from gator land, we better hurry up and get in

Why did Florida sign him to an extension just 4 months ago?

Maybe the whole back to back SEC east champion thing? Look, I’m stunned by the suddenness of this too. I think behind the scenes, the real catalyst of the disconnect between Mac and the Administration has to do with the severity of the suspensions of the 9 players. Basically the whole season. I think there has been infighting over that, and it spilled over into other areas. I’m certain that in Tuscaloosa and Athens, most of these players would have missed 2-3 games and been back, if even that. In Tallahassee, they wouldn’t have missed any games.

Extensions don’t matter when you have cause.

On Currie? I’m sure he has heard the situation in Florida today! One has to believe he is in his office right now, pacing back and forth in the hallways, trying to figure what to do right now!

He is studying how to save money both getting rid of and hiring a new coach. When he gets those figures right he will make the move.

No.
There is no "head start". Both UF and UT will have already tested the waters. Agents will absolutely hold off until all vacancies are known and allow them to bid against one another.

The "head start" is another made up VN freak out call.

I agree on most you said,
We will see on Smart. I think he had a perfect storm of star players getting injured and coming back rather than NFL. Leaders enhanced the whole team that benefited from extra reps in 2016. Also as the rest of SEC east is down. they have always recruited well and may just put them over the top.
Same thing could happen to new UT coach Kelly, Jennings and Kirkland will make a whale of difference in team 122 with the right staff.
I agree with everything you on almost everything except one thing. We are now referring to the team as The Vols. No more butchisms team 120,121,etc.
As The Vols.

They really couldn't wait any longer, if they were going to do it with cause, they really don't have cause but even if they did - you can't wait on it.

I know how you feel about... LSU suspended over 13 players for a few games, many guys are just now coming back from suspensions. You really don't hear many other programs doing it. That's just the way it goes I guess.

The problem for Florida is I kind of think firing someone like this doesn't really help. Time will tell. Despite my words, its not my intent to pile on.

Right, wrong or indifferent on Mac this is not a good look for UF admin.

UF admin wants to win football games and compete for championships. They aren’t worried about hurting McElwain’s feelings and they aren’t worried about looking bad to Jimmy Sexton.

Agree...this is a competitive football league...why watch a slow death like we are witnessing at Tennessee....Florida will do what is right for their players and fans....Always thought this was a short-term hire...

Once again, a lack of booster support??? or booster control??? and a potential pissing contest to handle this is maybe a future...

Currie is so hung up trying to make the perfect decision he can't make a decision at all....

SDS put out an article that said Mike Norvelle is the lead candidate. Tick Tock John.
