In the real world-that only goes so far, it is dependent on how much of a 'lack of talent' the coach has to work with, and how much dedication the talent lacking players have. The greatest coach of all times can not make a 'silk purse out of a sow's ear'. The greatest coach in the world can't give a man 'heart' he either has heart (the drive) or he doesn't. Boy butch fielded a team (last year) that like to play two quarters at most, 3rd and 4th they weren't there, thus the worst team in UT history. The first thing CP must do-and I believe he's doing it-is to get most of the team to play more than two quarters. Even if it is poor playing, don't quit. I remember when boy butch took over, you heard, over and over again-"He took over a dumpster fire!!!!!" blah, blah.... Now, here comes a coach that has taken over a 'forest fire', and many don't want to give him at least two seasons-they gave boy butch five, and many of the guys with their man-crush for butch, were willing to give him several more!!

I cant blame it all on those players for their epic suck levels - Butch simply failed them and gave them terrible habbits. They are a bunch of marshmallows out there and they just dont fight for it. This is a serious question, can CJP simply get rid of some of these highly rated Mac level players to make room for some people who have potential? These players suck, we know they suck and the worse thing of all, THEY know they suck. I dont think coaching can fix that. When you THINK you are a loser, you are ALWAYS right.

I can't wait until tank McCullough gets here and is allowed to have contact with warrior. Warrior is a disappointment to an extent at present. Was hoping he could add some pop and had some dog but he's a puppy......how cute! Don't get your pretty whites all dirty honey chile!

I'm starting to think some of them are milking the university out of scholarships, housing, meals, while faking the desire to contribute to the team. Getting a free ride and neglecting contractural obligation. Weird huh? What's the true underlying reason and why hasn't anyone said it? Are the schemes difficult to understand for some players while others take right to it? Major bucks being paid to this staff. At least explain why the terrible play.

The stuff we hear now is the same wr heard when butch took over, its pretty much groundhog day. And noone wanted to give him several more years, stop fooling yourself.

I certainly understand your take on what is going on. Perhaps if Pruitt was the hire with his same background but in 2010 after Kiffin left in the middle of the night, I would be less understanding of your skepticism. However, it's been 14 years now since UT put a team on the field that I thought could win any game it played. 2004 was the last year we beat Georgia, Florida, and Bammer all in the same season. 2004!!!!! That's a long time to hope for the best. To me it's put up or shut up time for this school I call my alma mater. I'm talking about the powers that be who do the hiring and firing of our athletic programs. To me, they are on the clock. Pruitt and company will be okay even if he doesn't pan out here. It's time the fan base held the administration, board of trustees, and donors accountable for idiotic decisions concerning our beloved program. Not sure what that looks like in practice.

This is very true. Florida's athletic talent is about the same as ours in my opinion. They had horrible coaching last year as did we. The difference may be in the methodology they fixed their issue with a new head coach. No drama, midnight clandestine meetups, false rumors, forced fan revolts, or other embarrassing events in Gainesville. I'm not saying we got a horrible hire. Pruitt may end up being incredible. It's the way we went about it that showed just how inept our administration and athletic department was and probably still is to a degree.

I don't think you can call out all of Jones players as bad but definitely over half should be replaced as soon as possible. A lot of these players making bonehead mistakes, missed assignments, mental errors hopefully won't be in the program much longer. To bad were not allowed to recruit 40 because we need that many. If we could go strong on the grad transfers next season would certainly be an option as a few of these players recruited by Jones don't have what it takes to play in the SEC no reason to expect that to change by next season better to get someone who is better even if they are one year players.

Lets stop kidding ourselves. Mullen simply has better talent. Smart had better talent when he took over.
It bridges the gap between the first year coaching pains when you have guys who can play.
We are simply outmatched on both sides of the line.
Florida's secondary is fast and can more than keep up with our receivers and our fastest back, Chandler. What can you do in your first year when the talent just simply isn't there?

But that's the thing, on paper, we're just as talented as anyone in the nation. Unless every freaking recruiting service missed on every single one of our players, I just don't see how they can be this bad. There is something mentally going on with this team.

I can't put my finger on it, but something is holding them back. I'm hoping either the players figure it out themselves or the coaches do, but either way we're in for a looooooooooooooooooong season.

Are we down on a talent level? Yes
It takes zero talent to give effort though.
Rewatch the game and slow it down and watch the effort level on key plays and you’ll be pissed. Middle school teams put forth more effort than what these guys did Sat.

We need more dawgs on this team. We need a great S&C coach and get these boys bigger, stronger and faster. The mental migets on the team need to be broke down and start over (boot camp style) or they need to leave the team. Lastly, we need some players step up and be leaders and get these guys on the same page.
