Comparing Clemson and Tennessee vs Appy St.

I think the players and maybe the coaches believed the hype..also take those green jerseys and burn them

I agree with you, there. Also, inclined to believe we improve. All we have right now is the first game...and it was not good.

App St didnt play Clemson on Sept 1st though. A Sept 1st App St team can beat nearly anyone in the country. A Sept 7th App st team though, not so much.

Tennessee has nowhere near the talent at QB

The one thing I liked about Josh was that he didn't do dumb things with the ball..tonight he did..like I said earlier I think we have two better QBs on the bench

Clemson barely survived 4-8 Syracuse and 4-8 South Carolina last year. Clearly their coaching sucks. Volnation logic.

You guys must have very little in your life if a football win makes you this miserable...actually feel sorry for you guys

Feel sorry for yourself for not understanding the difference between 41-10 and 20-13 in OT

Easy comparison.

Clemson has talent and quality coaching staff.
Tennessee has talent and horse**** coaching staff.

Yep, sums it up. We continually fail to utilize our skill and athleticism on the perimeter. The ONE time we threw a deep ball against man coverage it was a 67 yard touchdown! Hard to fathom why we don't do it more. And running the ball out of the gun inside the 3 yard line blows my mind...

You guys can cry and moan all you want..truth is we struggled and didn't play well and still beat a quality team...I don't think they will beat Miami but I do think that will be their only other loss this year...you guys were whining about Bowling Green last year doesn't it get old being so miserable?

Please tell me what the expectations were last year? Win the East? Possibly win the SEC and go to the playoffs? How about possibly winning the national title? There is a difference between this and last year.

Too bad you don't see the difference.

Explain what you're inferring. Clemson almost lost to 2 teams last year that Appy St would have thrashed. I don't think you are seeing the similarity. Ugly wins happen to the best of teams.

I honestly don't see the complaining as far as dobbs goes in this game. He made some nice throws early in the game e.x. 10 yard out route on the sideline to Preston Williams on 3 and 8 ish. He was accurate with his slants and the great amount of curl routes that debord loves to call. Our play calling was very conservative and mellow, I think at first they didn't want to show much because they believed they may be able to smash app state small d line in the mouth and get out of here without showing much. However, that was wasn't the case and when we realized that things should have been switched up, but it wasn't. But back to dobbs, he did under throw Josh Smith who almost made a great catch, but hell you can't make every throw. His interception was the biggest mistake I seen from him. He held on to the ball a little to long and tried to make a play and if he could have put some more on that throw then it's a touchdown because the receiver had him burnt. If he wouldn't have attempted to make that play on the run everyone would have complained that he should have tried being aggressive and taking a shot on that throw. It didn't work out for him simple as that. His other deep ball opportunity was right on the money for a 67 yard touchdown. It is hard on a qb when you run it up the middle on first and second down and then throw a short slant, screen, or curl route on 3rd down. It prevents you from getting in a rhythm. So honestly I don't see how the offensive struggles were on dobbs. I think our play calling wasn't adjusted to what the defense was doing. We stuck with our gameplan of running the ball through out the whole game and it almost bit us the ass, but I'll take an ugly win any day over and ugly loss. We will get better from this experience and I'm as always excited to be a Vol! Go Vols!

About the Syracuse game. Clemson won by 10. Thats not almost losing. Nor did they need OT to get the win. Oh and that was at Syracuse.

South Carolina? Well thats an instate rivalry that doesnt really fall into the same category. Those two teams always play each other tough. Oh yeah and that was at South Carolina.

So you are using the transitive property to strengthen your argument and that doesnt work.

Yes ugly wins happen but this win is very troubling. I am sorry ypu cannot see that but its the truth. This was the #9 ranked Tennessee Vols playing an unranked App state at Neyland stadium. This game should not have been this close nor should the team have played this poorly. Other than the scoreboard, this game is a pretty big failure. I hope the whole team learns from this and wakes the hell up. Because if ypu or anyone else thinks we can play like we did last night and win any games of significance, then I think you're in for a rude awakening.

I miss the pro style offense we used to run. That garbage we run is horrible.
