Never understood the rumor that she was still going to take her remaining visits even though she committed, but this pretty much wraps that up:

"By the end of it, we are exhausted," West said. "Oliviyah actually had multiple visits left to South Carolina, LSU and University of Washington and then we were going to do an unofficial at USC. We had about four more weekends on the road when she committed. It's over. She has made her decision. She feels good. She's not second guessing herself. It's nice to say, 'OK, we don't have to pack a suitcase this weekend.

I have to admit that way back when I first heard about Oliviyah and eventually did a little poking around to find videos and such to see what she was all about, my early FIRST impression was, evidently, completely off base as far as her personailty goes.

Now, like everyone else I saw the potential for her to be a phenom of a player. She was raw -- and STILL has much room to learn and grow -- but even then folks with a good eye for talent could see she was born with physical gifts that don't come along that often. So, I was right in my first impression of her athletic potential. I really do believe if she stays healthy she could be a major force in women's college basketball by her junior year.

All that said, the thing about her that I got wrong was that I kinda felt there was a strong possibility she'd be somewhat immature, and overly preoccupied by how much attention and celebrity she could get for herself.

So to find out she wasn't actually about all that is refreshing. It also reminded me that first impressions are not always accurate indicators, and we should really take our time before forming our opinions. In my defense, at least I wasn't dumb enough to come here early on saying stupid stuff!
