Committed Oliviyah Edwards

My gawd! I just watched more of the "Big Os" youtube clips (hope younger folks here realize the Hall-of-Fame legacy attached to that nickname!)

In clips, top ranking recruits always look impressive, but Edwards is on another level, This is Candace Parker level dominance (and adjusted for the fact that the overall level of play has gone up a register since CP3's high school days).

Is this signing really for real????!!!

Coach Caldwell, how have you managed to win yet another NC?

"We have Oliviyah and you don't!!!"

Commitment, not a signing.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Prudent schmudent! I say a "bird in the bush" is served for dinner!!!

In all seriousness, reversals on such high profile commitments are usually precipitated by some major disruption, like a coaching staff change or some scandal negatively effecting the athletic program. I don't think that will happen in this case.

Of course in the age of NIL, someone could ante up a gazillion $ to change her mind but that is also more of football thing and it really has not hit WCBB (yet).

Getting Olivia was like winning a jackpot. She definitely seems to have the possibility of being a national POY while she is here. There has been only one problem that has happened since the news: Compulsive checking to see if we can win any other jackpots. I am all in, not even trying to change. Nope, no recovery for me.

I see a more complete Vicki Baugh out high school mixed with a little Bashaara Graves.

She definitely got the appeal of Lady Vol forwards of old. Just hope she doesn’t have injury issues like Vicki. Hope she’s built like a truck like Glory Johnson. She has that same kind of raw athleticism those players had but seems to also have refined basketball skills like Candace.

I’m impressed with her handles and defense in a lot of her clips. That’s something that always set Candace apart as a big girl.

As another poster stated up thread, this signing really feels like a game changer. Beating SC to a top recruit they really wanted is noteworthy. It is a signal that the LVs are really back in the game.
SC was also big on Jaida Civil and we won that battle too. So this is the second in two recruiting cycles. Things are proceeding just as planned.

Wow. If Big O is the best combination of Bashaara, Vicki, Glory, and CP3, let's start counting championships, both SEC and NCAAT. I am excited. GBO.

I think sitting players for two years and making them, “wait their turn,” then recruiting over them from the portal has come to roost for Dawn.

As it should. The Fulwiley Situation does not help and it was very well documented, rumored and followed. In my view, Fulwiley should be a household name by now due to raw and natural talent, but she was held back by Dawn and then Dawn recruited over her. Every Elite athlete playing the sport should pay attention to that.

It's astounding that Oliviyah Edwards at "only" 6'3" can elevate high enough to dunk the ball with seemingly little effort. I thought she had to be at least 6'5, but she's actually on the short side. I wonder if she'll have another growth spurt? Can you imagine if she did?! 😲🥰
Pretty unusual for 17 year old female to have a growth spurt. Her being an explosive 6'3 is just fine.

I’m just going to say having “short” and 6’3 in the same sentence is mind boggling.
Angel Reese is 6’3. Ashlynn Watkins is 6’3.
I ain’t never looked at either and said they are short.
Smh.
