Commentators

Here is what I can tell you.

1) If we had our regular offense out there it's 35-3. Maybe worse. This Clemson team is not very good.

2) The commentators went in with all their eggs in the Cade Klubnik basket. They were needing a story for the average viewer. It isn't working. They want all of our daughters, wives, and moms to date Cade Klubnik. No TV time for Tennessee sideline. I don't care. Just win and come home.

3) Beasley is playing like a man tonight.

4) Martinez has not coached this team to play the deep ball well. They're horrible throws as well...high, behind, and slow. We should have 2 picks off of those deep balls if we simply turn our heads.

5) Milton will not be our starter all season next year. He lacks in decision making...makes up for it with an arm like a cannon...but not the QB that will get us to promised land.

Regarding #4, I think Slaughter is having a good game, couple of pass break ups and a number of good tackles. And yes, Beasley peak performance.

Overall, defense looks good this game, carrying over from Vandy game. GBO!!

Is it just me or does McElroy and Tessitore gush over every Clemson player? The man love is strong with those two.
Tbh.. I think Clemson's offense had the ball almost the entire game and our db let them have 1st downs all day.

They probably could have spoken a little more about our defensive play

This is a trash thread and trash takes. They talked up both teams. Y’all are just whiny fans that can’t handle commentators doing their job.

Also, McElroy is legit. He’s always found something positive to say about us even when we sucked.

I think there is little doubt that Mc is for a Clem win. However he is being pretty fair with his praise for our program as the game plays out. He has been fair with his evaluation of season and progress at the end of the game. Just not very excited. As for Tess, he is a rank amateur in this business to me. I have been amused at his delivery after the Clem TD (nearly peed his pants) and the obvious dejection at the quick TD we followed with. (I could hear his mind saying "well shi-"):)

Seriously…. Plus, Katie George was there. That should be enough to distract from any negative comments.

If the commentary bothers you so much maybe mute it next time? In all I can see where the Cade bias came in a bit at times, but i feel the announcers did a decent enough job. At the end of the day if you're paying attention to the game, why do you need to be told what's happening on the field? Especially if the narrative is focused off the field while the plays are happening, because to me I am totally focused on what's happening on the field with the plays and the players. I could see where someone may need to be spoon-fed what's happening if they didn't understand the game quite yet due to age or lack of experience watching the game, but i'd argue most viewers don't need someone in their ear telling them who's winning, who's playing well, who the better team is, if the QB is a freshman. In my opinion all that is just filler to pass the time, and the true entertainment is what happens between the whistles. I've never heard of any commentary change the outcome of a game, and this Orange Bowl was no different. As for me I will sit back with this cup of coffee and enjoy the fact that we came out on top, regardless of how the wind blew or what Klubnik's parents were doing in the stands.

Exactly, did you see his post game analysis? We should make him an honorary VFL , he praised EVERYthing Orange; Josh, the Administration, the fans and most importantly the players especially the QBs.

He did a hard pivot after his Clemson pandering did not pay off throughout the game.... you could see him transitioning early in the fourth quarter.

It certainly felt like ESPN along with the commentators were hoping the stars would align for a Clemson victory. Freshman QB wins big game with his parents in attendance blah blah blah. Damn cameras were glued to Klubnik’s parents.

I usually mute the games because IMO the commentators can often be distracting to me. I think I mostly understand what I’m seeing in front of me and don’t need someone explaining it(except occasionally issues they have inside info on like the penalty on CJH). Having said that…for some reason I did leave the volume on a lot last night and simply did not find the commentary slanted one way or the other. Actually I think they did due diligence to the Vols and JM’s story. We seem to forget…Clemson has earned the respect they receive. Hopefully we’ll be in that position soon enough. JMO. Volnation…quit being so offended! 😀😀

I feel like I’ve tuned in to a documentary on Cade Klubnik.

It was blatant and shameless. They were starting his Heisman campaign. The pretty teenage girl “reporting” from the sideline and auditioning as Bimbo of the Day was pretty clueless and just as obvious. We muted the game in the 2nd quarter and listened to Vol Network test of the game.
