Commandant of the Marine Corps bans all Confederate symbols

I don’t. People that rep the confederate flag are generally (not all) inbred, backwardsass, racist, rednecks. I’m talking about the ones that go out of their way to wear it or display it. I don’t feel that way at all about people who display the American flag.
I believe "most" that fly it or wear it do so to be rebellious.

A black student gave a speech at Maryville when they were debating it, and after her speech it was dropped without objection. I don’t think some folks understand how that symbol is received. We can talk all day about heritage, etc. The facts are the Civil War was an ugly blight on the history of our country. It’s been heavily romanticized, which only serves to cloud the heinous reality of slavery in the antebellum south. Losers don’t get to erect statues and fly their flag.

Then shouldn't we also get rid of the American flag?

Why not? Many minorities see it as a flag of oppression just the same as the confederate flag.
Lol, no they don’t. Sure, you’ll see a few bloggers, a random article here and there, or people on Twitter whining about nothing, but that’s not at all indicative of how the flag is viewed in the country.

Unless they name their military bases after American Revolutionary War leaders, I'm not sure how this is relevant.
The British considered the people fighting for American independence as traitors in the same manner as the North considered the South but yeah to the victor go the spoils and the victor get's to write the history and all. The SJWs will eventually destroy all of the Revolutionary monuments and such as they were the original treasonous slave owning white racists.

It's not really comparable. What a flag originally stood for and how it's received now are two completely different things. The American flag has had the good fortune to move on from its past with slavery, but the confederate flag is either frozen in time with slavery, or even worse, it's associated with what it became during reconstruction.

Now if we want to ban the American flag because we are an evil empire on the world stage, that's a different question ; )

Screech!

Again, this isn’t remotely comparable. I see this silly argument all the time from those sympathetic to confederate crap.

I've always been curious if black people in other countries that once practiced slavery think they deserve reparations? Does any other country still foster the guilt of slavery like we do?
Probably not because they realize that the ones responsible for the slavery have been dead for a very long time.

There are many places where the Stars and Stripes can no longer be displayed or the pledge of allegiance no longer recited because they may offend someone but you know that already.

Hypothetical question. Since the US fought a war against the CSA, they would be considered an enemy, right?

Would it be acceptable to Union Jack symbols? Rising Sun? Mexican flags? Red, Black and Green flag?
That was my thought as well.

The answer is yes. Brazil, which is where the majority of African slaves went has been trying to figure out how to actually give reparations to the decedents of slaves for years.

CSA soldiers aren't technically the enemy anymore, at least according to the government back in the 20's.

Our Navy flies the Union Jack because its an American flag. I have seen Jolly Roger stuff on Navy aircraft and ships/boats/whatevertheyarecalled.

The Union Jack is the flag of Great Britain and is not a American flag.

I think we all know the answer is yes. I would be most concerned about the recent policy of allowing Hijabs. No way I would turn my back on a fellow soldier wearing a rag on their head.
Well this doesn’t sound racist at all.
