Comic Books

Speaking of turning rooms into a display room, that’s what I’ve done with one of my kids old rooms lol. My kids, with the exception of my youngest (16), have all moved out and I finally had the gumption to tell my wife that I’m going to display some of my “items” lol. I’ve got action figures, still their box of course, from the 90’s and early 2000s, baseball cards, comics and will soon put of shelving to display items that belonged to my grandparents in the next couple of weeks. I can post some pics if interested.
That sounds awesome. Would love to see some pictures.

Action figures….ugghh. I got rid of so many of those. Sold them in yard sales in the late 80s to make a few bucks to buy basketball cards. Hahaha. Whoops. Star Wars…GI Joe…great memories, and wish I held onto them.

Not gonna lie, Ebay is where I've gotten 95% of the books I collect. My collection is different from most I think. I generally target specific books with 1st appearances or go after favorite characters like Gambit from X-men or Scarecrow from batman. I've also noticed that I'm one of the few who target graded books. For my needs I think they display really well. I was really big into comics when I was younger but didn't keep any from my childhood (stupid me lol). Only over the last two years or so have I been building my collection and like I stated earlier, Ebay, Ebay Ebay lol. While my collection, still in it's infancy, I's say that I've got about 12 books. I've recently purchased a couple more, one of which I'm really excited about, and waiting on them to arrive. As for selling books on Ebay, I've not done that yet. My uncle sells baseball cards on Ebay from time to time and has told me it's a really simple process but who really knows lol.

If you are in the Knoxville area it’s worth a trip over to The Golden Age 1942. Their stock is incredible.

I’m in JC but my sister lives that way so I try to make in once or twice per year.

I really enjoy talking comics in here with you guys. You’re about the only people I talk to about comics.

I recently picked up my first Charlton comics. Think I might keep an eye out for them if I can find some in decent condition for a good price.

I’m also considering selling off some of my collection and primarily focusing on comics from the 80s and further back. I’ll probably test the waters on eBay and then do some store credit at my local shop. Any of you found particularly good outlets for that?

I’m also curious - any of you know how many books you have in your collection?

Between 2005-2018ish I purged a ton of stuff Mostly run from that era but when my wife and I remodeled our kitchen I let go of all my Spidey’s and FF that had huge chunks of Silver and Bronze Age.

Definitely have regrets but it is what it is.

eBay is the biggest place for traffic but you pay for it.

Of course FB market place. Just have to put up with a lot of dumb questions, low offers, and ghosting.

As for how many comics? Gosh… about 20 short boxes worth 🤷‍♂️ but the aren’t all boxed because I’m terrible at organizing.

That’s about where I am. 15-20 short boxes and one long box. And then others scattered around. I’m giving eBay a shot. We’ll see what happens.

Pretty happy with my pickups this week. Picked up Giant Size Spiderman 5 to finish off the original Clone Saga storyline and bought this to finish my run of the Marvel Comics with the first appearances of the symbiote.

I live in McMinnville. Just inconveniently enough to be close to nothing lol.
While I haven't been to it there was a new pop-culture store that opened in McMinnville. I can't think of the name of it but they have had some comics at the last couple of McMinnville card shows. If I remember right they were located out on Sparta Highway. I think it's the building next to the Shell gas station just before the Veterinary Clinic if you know where I'm talking about?

Love the old Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish, etc.
On a side note, I've always thought that Iron Man and Submariner #1 is extremely underpriced since it was leading into their solo books. Picture for reference-

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a copy of this. I’ll post a picture once it arrives.

A few recent purchases arrived today, and I’m pumped. Got all of these for about $60 (+shipping), and I’m blown away by the condition of the Daredevil books (outside of the smudge on the cover of 160).

The Detective Comics have some exterior wear and tear, but the pages look good. Daredevil and Detective were from the same auction. And the Shield comics have minor issues. They’re from E-bay. It was a Bullseye-themed day for me today.

Recent pick up. I usually don’t get books just for nostalgic toy lines but I’m a big fan of Tom Scioli so I had to have a set.

I had no transformers as a kid. But my brother and I did have a couple of GoBots. They were more affordable, so mom was OK with picking one of them up at Kmart on occasion.

Anyone in Knoxville this weekend, Snake Eyes Comics is hosting the Spring Into Comics at Rothchild's Conference Center March 7 & 8. Guests include Jae Lee, Timothy Zahn and others. It's a great throw back to the old comic book shows from before the big conventions. I'll be there with Buzzard Brothers Comics so stop by and say hey.
