Pro style offense guy coming to a team that has recruited spread offense guys? Oil and water?

For HC or for OC?

Regardless of who the OC is, they are going to be running the Cincinnati Flash's offense.

He's on track to become an NFL HC. He will likely never coach college (he's always been an NFL coach).

How much recruiting have we really done for a spread offense? We recruit by stars, not scheme in my opinion.

I would assume that he gets a very good salary at Detroit. Also, the NFL has a killer retirement package for retired assistant coaches, position coaches and head coaches.
Remember Lovie didn't want to leave Chicago to come to Tennessee? He was eventually fired at Chicago and landed in Tampa but was fired from there also. He now coaches in college at Illinois.
My guess is that he didn't have enough years to be eligible for NFL retirement plan when we wanted him but he did have enough years when he ended up in Illinois.
Jim Bob would likely take a pay cut to be an OC and once in the college ranks may not be able to get back in to NFL again to earn retirement.

Something like Frankenstein recruiting. Get a bunch of supposedly suitable bodies, and see if you can patch a 10 together from the disparate pieces. Certainly not enough matching parts to assemble some sort of effective offensive line - for something like four years, and the Dooley caused it excuse is getting thin. But, hey, we've got a bumper crop of QBs.

And somehow those bumper crop QBs all bring dramatically different things to the table.

Get a FB, and Hurd, Kelly and Kamara would thrive in a traditional I Formation. yes, even Kamara. The receivers can run about any routes. There's more than just recruiting problems on the O line
