Colton Jumper has earned the right to keep starting

If Kirkland is 100% healthy you start him no doubt.

Honestly though I'm not sure if you wouldn't just bump Jumper to the outside (or bump Kirkland to the outside).

Either way if Kirkland is 100% healthy I think Kirkland AND Jumper should be on the field as Jumper has turned things around and proven he's our second best (available) linebacker.

Exactly, use same philosophy as getting your best 5 OL on the field. Do the same at LB....get your best 2 on the field.

Jumper is much improved and playing well.

What makes you think Hurd returns this week? I am not so sure.

Butch said he would, so yeah, you're right, there's no way to know for sure. Hope he is though....need all hands on deck for Bama.

He caught the attention of Pro football focus.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/college-tennessee-texas-am-grades-aggies-playmakers-shine-in-win/

Top offensive grades:

RB Alvin Kamara, 88.1

C Coleman Thomas, 74.1

LT Brett Kendrick, 72.8

WR JaJuan Jennings, 71.7

WR Tyler Byrd, 70.4

Top defensive grades:

LB Colton Jumper, 84.4

DE Derek Barnett, 83.7

DT Danny O’Brien, 79.3

DT Kahlil McKenzie, 78.6

DE Corey Vereen, 77.4

Lol, first time in 20 years a RB rushes and receives for the yardage total Kamara rang up and he gets a B+ grade? 88.1

He received the highest grade of any member from either team. I'm not sure the exact grading system, but I would imagine the fumbles were deductions.

Butch said in presser that Kirkland and Jumper would be on the field at the same time. And that Kirkland "knows all the LB positions."

Sounds like Jump in the middle and Kirk outside to me.

I'm good as long as DK if healthy enough to play is on the field, we simply do not have a LB that plays in front of him.

I've been one of the harshest critics of Colton Jumper. Like many I didn't think he deserved to start after DKjr went down. I was in the camp of give anyone else a shot but him. I'm happy to see him prove me wrong. The kid has been nothing short of phenomenal the last 3 weeks.

In fact he's been so good that I think once Kirkland gets healthy, we should think about moving DKjr to JRM's old position as the weakside linebacker. Kirkland's speed and athleticism is actually more suited to outside linebacker than middle linebacker. He would be phenomenal at that position. Especially now that it looks like we'll be without JRM for the rest of the season.

I know this sounds crazy but Colton Jumper is playing too good to get off the field right now and he's been better than Cortez McDowell so far. I personally feel alot better with DKjr and Jumper out there at linebacker than DKjr and Cortez.

Let's this be a lesson to all of us anonymous posters--don't go jumping on kids who are doing the best they can, particularly early in their playing careers--they need experience, confidence and support so let's quit being such hatemongers.

I agree.

Its a mistake to count out these kids.

Colton Jumper has shown me the light in that regard.

Good to see Butch saying this.

If JRM is out indefinitely, we need to have Kirkland and Jumper on the field. They are our 2 best LBs.

Tackling 7-8 yes down field is a whole lot different than shedding a block and making a tackle in the whole for half the yardage or less.

This is the one thing I haven't seen him do is shed blocks and make tackles in the back field very often. The kid has come a long way tho, much respect to him.

Colton is second in tackles for the team and 5th in tfls. Only Barnett, Vereen, O'Brien and Vickers have more.

Happy for Colton. I trust the coaches to get the best players in the field. The CJ story goes to show how important playing time is for player development. There is nothing like full speed reps to open a young players mind and have them realize there is another level you can and must play at. Mental and physical.

He has earned the trust to play but it would be hard to give him Kirkland's spot even if moving Kirkland to another spot. Kirkland is our best MLB.
but Kirkland and jumper on the field together is probably better than any other combo we have. Kirkland is clearly the better player but he is probably the better Sam than anyone else on the team and likely a better Will also. Colton can play Sam fine but would struggle at Will. Teams best Will is out (Sapp).

I wish Jumper was bigger and faster because he apparent knows exactly what he's supposed to be doing and gets himself in the right position.

Didn't mean for you to take my comments about your brother as an insult. I wish I was taller and faster too.

Jumper is way better than last year. So are Foreman & EM. Proud of all three for making huge strides this year. I didn't believe either of the three were SEC players. All three proved me wrong. They've been critical to our success this year. Great job by all three young men.

This is not true because I read the experts on here who say there is not one player that has been coached up by this staff.
