Colquitt

Per Jimmy Hyams, he's going to be using some hyperbaric chamber in Oak Ridge from now up until the Cal game...

For the insiders . . . how's the backup punter doing? I heard he's kicking well in the scrimmages, but awful in practice.

Also, I hear (from Fulmer) Daniel Lincoln has drastically improved over the last week.

Any insight??

If our backup punting continues as it has in scrimmage, we might be able to hobble out of a Colquitt injury for the Cal game if we had to in the punting game. The scrimmages lead me to be more suspect of the kicking game than the backup punting game, but I hope we dont' have to find out! As for the kicking game......I just hope that Lincoln can be consistent within 40 yards.

Is it just me or does it seem no other team in America is as injured as we are this time of year?

You know who is returning punts for Cal, right?

We need Colquitt healthy.

Like I said...based on the scrimmages, the punting didn't look bad. As a matter of fact, it looked darn good in (I think) the last. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying "don't worry" or "all's good" with regard to the punting game if Colquitt isn't in. He is obviously a game changer. My point is that if those scrimmage numbers show up in the game, we might be able to hobble along. With D. Jackson, a 40 vs. a 50 yd. punt might not be that much different - unless placement is your concern and I don't know what the placement looked like in the scrimmages. A missed field goal or two could be critical.

Funny how when the injury happened they understated it in the interviews. I had a bad feeling about a quad strain in our best punter/kicker. I hope he can get back on the field soon.

Is it possible that the strain is due to the change in form and legwork required for placekicking? I worry that we are leaning too hard on Colquitt to make up for the young Lincoln. I have the Daniel can show some consistency early and leave Colquitt to do what he is kick arse at.

It's just you. Everyone else battles injuries also unless they are extremely lucky. It could also be that we follow the injuries coming out of the UT camp more closely. Ask Georgia about injuries. They are now starting 3 freshmen on the OL.

Yeah, you're probably right. It just seems that way sometimes though.

That's what I thought.

As for your previous post, I am worried about placement. To say our kickoff/punt coverage has been questionable over the last 5 years is an understatement.

I'm worried. Hopefully the preseason talk of improvement in that area is true.

Tired? Man how can a punter be "tired" in the preseason. I can understand if his leg is sore from all the work but tired.....no way.

Anyone else think Colquitt looks a lot like Steven Gerrard?
