That is probably more accurate than the 7-seed that Lunardi is still projecting. I say we are a 5 or 6 at the moment. Get it up to a 4, and we're talking Lexington. We must beat the Dawgs!

Good to see us getting some well-deserved props. Let's smoke tha dawgs today!

I don't see us falling below a 6 seed at this point. I could see a 3-6. 7 would be a disappointment and 2 would be a pleasant surprise. To get a 2, we would have to beat UGA and then win the SECT with a few higher teams faltering.

I think to get a 7 we would have to drop both of the next 2. To get a 3, we would have to beat Georgia and win the conference tourney.

I don't see us falling to a 7 even if we lose the next two. No way in hell you can show me 24 teams with a better resume even if we lose to UGA and LSU/Auburn.

Noone thought we'd be a 2 seed last year either. I'm not saying we will be, but if we beat UGA and win the SECT, it wouldn't be too farfetched. That would like give us a win over Texas, Memphis, 2 over UF, etc. We would also have a top 10 SOS and RPI, possibly top 5 in both.

I know you're hopeful, but even with our resume, there are still 8 better teams in the country, regardess of whether we win the secT and other teams drop theirs.

People are also forgetting that the committee we'll glance over our three losses without Lofton in the line-up..(They take injuries into a factor now) If we win today, and win 2 in the SEC Tourney, no way we get less than a 5 seed.. Possibly even a 4..

I'm not saying I wouldn't be stoked. I would just rather not have all the prognosticators saying we will be the big upset again and talking up how we don't deserve the seed. It's nice to be able to fly under the radar somewhat.

Come on, you know you want to say it:

We play better as the underdog.

We won't be the underdog in the first round no matter what we get. A good chance we wouldn't be the underdog until the sweet 16.

if anything the last thing we need is a 5 seed, because if history tells you anything is that anything can happen in the 5 vs 12 match-up.

CBSSPORTSLINE.COM has us #16 or #17 RPI and #4 SOS. They are projecting us a #7 seed along with Duke. I haven't checked espn.com so I don't know what they are saying.

That's way out of date. RealTimeRPI has our RPI at #7, which is the highest RPI of all teams in the SEC. Wait until CBSSportsLine's next update - we should jump up substantially.

The rpi's of every sports web site is different....some have us as low as #20 and as high as #8....i'd say right now we have an rpi of 10 and our seed is prolly 6....but the sec tournement will defiantely change those numbers:salute:

I think we are a five seedright now and if we choke the first game against LSU. We beat LSU and the second game (Ole Miss?) and lose a close one against FL and FL goes on and wins the tourney, then we go to a 4 seed. If we beat FL, the we should win the whole thing because everyone in the top bracket sucks and that should put us at a 3 seed. Didn't think that last second tip in at Vandy would cost us so much at the time. We would be ranked right now, have a 2 seed in the tourney and have a fairly easy road to the finals and then have a good chance at a #2 seed in the big tourney.

RPI is a specifically-defined calculation, there are no subjective parameters that can influence the calculation. The only thing that influences the calculation is the exact point in time when you calculate it. The reason for differences across the sites is related to when the particular website calculates it.

RealTimeRPI.com recalculates every few minutes, therefore it should be your first choice when checking RPI information.

One RPI was out today during a game on ESPN and Tennessee was not ranked 4th in it like they were after the game on Tuesday night. Tennessee is at worst a 5 seed, regardless of what happens. If Tennessee wins the first two games, Tennessee is a lock for a 4 seed. If Tennessee only wins one, Tennessee still has a good shot at a 4.

they're not ranked 4th in the rpi because they havent been 4th all year. UT has been 7th since they beat UF though.
