Who said we were passing? Auburn won't stop the run.
Thats a pretty big statement.
Are you basing that on the WVU game? In that game 71 of Noel Devine's 117 yards came in one play. Meaning we held the one of the nation's best RBs to 46 yards for the rest of that game.
That is against the nation's 10th best overall offense. One that is 2 dimensional (you know, one that you have to defend the run AND pass). Devine averages 6.2 yards per carry vs. Montario Hardesty's 5.7 yards per carry.
We also held Anthony Dixon to 92 yards in the MSU game. Again against a team that can run, AND pass.
Ok, lets say that isn't enough for you to reconsider your statement....
Even if Hardesty and Brown have a run game as good as they did against Western Kentucky, a Sun Belt Team which is has the 130th ranked defense in the nation, (I didnt even know there were 130 NCAA schools LOL!) that would give Hardesty 160 rushing yards, and Brown does the same with 104 yards
Do you really think 264 yards is going to be enough to win?
Tenn averages 368.5 yds a game. Crompton is going to HAVE to pass the ball for Tenn to win. I do understand why you do not want him to since he has thrown 7 TDs, and 8 INTs.
While our run defense hasn't been nearly as good as Tenn's has, Auburn is tied for second in the nation with eight interceptions, and tied for third with 10 total turnovers forced. How does that factor into things?
I am not trying to come in here and make AU look like some unstoppable force, or trying to put down the Vols at all. I am just saying that some of your comments aren't very realistic at all.
We may not stop the run but we will make necessary adjustments through out the game that will force Crompton into passing situations. I think you guys are overlooking our D a bit too much.
+1 In the second half of every game, our defense has been pretty darn good. We are among the top 25% defenses in the nation.
We went through the same stuff last year. It was miserable.
Yeah that was bad, but two words scare me even more: Brandon Cox...ugh! :mega_shok:
