3 SEC schools (Florida, South Carolina, Vanderbilt)
2 ACC schools (North Carolina and Virginia)
2 Big-12 schools (Texas and Texas A &M)
1 Pac-10 School (California)
The ACC was lucky to get 2 in as Virginia should have lost today. They were down by 1 with 2 outs and no on. Three hits practically through the pitchers mound game and a walk gave them the win. Florida State was shelled tonight after scoring 23-runs on Sunday. aTm won 11-2 and it really was not that close.
Play begins in the new stadium on Saturday
June 18 2 p.m. Vanderbilt vs. North Carolina ESPN / ESPN3.com
7 p.m. Texas vs. Florida ESPN / ESPN3.com
June 19 2 p.m. California vs. Virginia ESPN / ESPN3.com
7 p.m. Texas A&M vs. South Carolina ESPN2 / ESPN3.com
Of the 3 SEC teams, South Carolina has the easiest path as we now see Virginia's flaws. Has the weak ACC schedule prepared this Hoo team for what they are about to see.
That Saturday bracket is brutal with 4 national seeds with tons of talent.
The teams that struggled the least in Super Region play were South Carolina and North Carolina but both schools dispatched unseeded teams.
Florida had a surprising amount of trouble with Mississippi State but I think they should be favorites just based on their pitching depth.
If Vanderbilt can win game #1 (inexperienced teams often struggle in their first time in Omaha) they may be in good shape.
I see Florida dispatching Texas; South Carolina dispatching aTm; Virginia beating Cal; Vanderbilt beating UNC (in a close game)
Vandy and Cal (the new guys) will be the darlings of Omaha locals.
