College Hoops Around The Country [TN opponents, RPI, others]

UNLV won a natty in the early 90s too.

To be fair, they were in the Elite Eight ten months ago, which Tennessee has only accomplished once in its history.

And most rankings put their recruiting class in the top 5 for next year.

So UT was better from 2006-2019. Since then, I’m not so sure.

The data backs it up. Not even close

You are definitely correct about the period up to 2019. But on the chart you posted, what season was Arkie’s best? 2021.

Btw you were just arguing that Arkie’s 1994 championship and 1995 runner-up season are irrelevant today (which is accurate). But then you argue UT is better by using a model that starts back in 1997?

UT sucked in 1997. We were 11-16.

I had this argument w a few posters on here recently about how Arkansas ranks as a program. I don’t care about ancient history. We are a better program.

Arkansas basketball and Tennessee football have a lot in common. Lots of history and potential but can’t seem to get out of their own way with coaching hires since the 90’s for the most part.

Yes, now I was also in an argument with another poster a very long time ago about what it takes to turn around w program. In basketball I think it’s obviously less than football. And in basketball I think programs are buoyed by their potential (best years not worst). Because it’s basketball and Arkansas has been there before, they have a lot of potential. Can realize it much more quickly than a football program like Tennessee. But also think grading a program over the time span in which current players have been alive for is probably the most relevant. I’ve been looking at KenPom’s program ratings for a little while and noticed teams can move pretty quickly up and down the list. Makes sense to me. Musselman is a good coach. Arkansas has the potential to get back very quickly

Just finished watching the Penn State vs Michigan game. Painful is a word too kind to describe that mess. Slow, plodding and lacking in accuracy.

Arkansas went to the SS last year for the first time in 25 years. So, UT was better between 1998 and 2020.
