Not sure if it has been posted here, but did read somewhere that ESPN Gameday contacted UT and told them they would like half of the 3500 gameday fans allowed in to be UT. This was left up to Memphis and it's pretty apparent they didn't listen.:no:

I have heard where the only way to get in was to have a ticket to the game OR have a Memphis student ID

there werent' many Tennessee fans there, I am sure they didn't let them in.

Regardless, you have to give it up for Memphis, they turned out for it..I wonder if they had to check handguns at the gate?

I saw a couple of orange shirts but not near enough. Just tells me we need to make sure ESPN comes to Knoxville in the future (but I'm sure UT would let some opposing fans in)

Surely UT fans that had a game ticket or a memphis student ID were not turned away...

Anybody who had a game ticket could get in...it was just a question if you wanted to line up at 4 or 5 in the morning to get in. And no they don't turn anyone away because they are going for the other team.

Yeah..I figured it was just a case of the UT fans not wanting to get up at 4 or 5 in the morning after traveling last night most likely...Also..there just aren't going to be a lot of UT fans there for the game, I would guess.

Beale Street had lots of Orange on it last night. I'm not sure if they all had tix, but Downtown was hopping last night.

Pearl would make sure cal got 50 or so tickets . Don't you think ? :good!:

The 3,500-seat allotment was determined by FedEx Forum officials, but the decision to allow Tigers students first rights was made by the University of Memphis.

If all 3,500 seats are taken up by Memphis students, no one else will be allowed in. However, if there are remaining seats, anyone with a ticket will be admitted, according to Memphis Sports Information Director Lamar Chance.

ESPN recently contacted Tennessee encouraging students to attend the Gameday broadcast and expressed an interest in having a 50-50 split between Memphis and UT fans. But the network has no say in who the host team allows in the building.

really? (from the link above) How many student showed up and how many seats were left over for UT fans?

A University of Memphis official confirmed today that Tigers students will get first dibs on the 3,500 seats reserved for the broadcast.

All 3500 weren't taken because i know of at least 2 people who didn't have student tix, but got in. Like i said earlier, it was whether or not you wanted to get up at 4 or 5 and line up in the cold.

I certainly think that it should be first come first served within the guidelines for admission (ticket or ID). Apparently that wasn't the case...and that is a bit douche-bagish in my opinion.

Yeah, it looked pretty bogus to have practically no fans in orange. I know our fans support better than that. Just another low move for Memphis State College.

I mean not to mention every other school who has hosted CGD has had no opposing fan support, right?

It was the FedEx Forums decision to only allow 3,500 spectators….if Tiger High had their own on-campus facility….maybe….some VOLS would have been allowed in the building?

Gee, where's the genius that said I didn't know what I was talking about when I opined that Cal & Co. had rigged the rules for Gameday to keep Tennessee fans out?

It was my understanding that Memphis Students could get tickets, but there were quite a few tickets given out... and only the first 3500 to arrive were allowed inside.
