It might be a stretch, but Kelly has a pretty impressive resume', IMO. I think Chris Petersen, with only 3 years as a HC at Boise State, is more of stretch. Boise State was in a very dominant position over a weak conference when Petersen took over as HC. All he's had to do so far is not screw it up.

5. Brian Kelly, Cincinnati. He cleaned up in the NCAA lower division (winning two national titles) before moving to the Division I level at Central Michigan. He took a team in the cellar of the MAC (read: cellar of college football) and turned it into conference champions by his third season before moving to Cincinnati.

In 121 seasons of football, Cincinnati has three seasons of double-digit victories. Kelly's first two teams own two of them, including a school-record 11 wins last season. Because of injuries, the Bearcats relied on three quarterbacks last year and still won the school's first outright conference championship since 1964.

Me too, Carroll is a better coach than Saban...and Saban is one hell of a coach.

Also, Mack Brown can coach circles around Bob Stooge and Brian Kelley.

Brian Kelley is a great coach... I'd like to see him go to a program with a better depth chart than Cincy just to see what he could do.

If Saban was at USC with that talent, he would have won more titles.

Look, I think that CPC is a great coach but he is a better recruiter. IMO, he gets a pass for not winning more titles. I only say this because I believe that he has had the best talent every year since his arrival at USC.

CPC is a quality recruiter but a pedestrian coach. He is in the most talent-rich program in America that any semi-decent recruiter has done well at. However, he has only one BCS national title to claim despite having the most talented team in the country for at least six of the last seven years (close with UF in 2008) and despite playing a soft schedule with a down Notre Dame and a mediocre PAC-10.

Being a good "fit" at a xchool is important. Saban is a good fit at Bama. He wouldn't be as good a fit at UF or USC. Just like Meyer of Carroll wouldn't be a good fit at Bama.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
MB has an advantage over Fulmer however. He coaches in one of the most Talent-laden states in the country. He can pretty much hand-pick great players who have dreamed of being a Longhorn since they were born. Fulmer had no such talent in the state of Tennessee.

You have to give Pete Carroll credit for not losing a game by more than 7 points since 2002. Compare that to Tenn's 20 losses by more than 7 points over the same time frame.

As far Mack Brown, I'll say this. He is one helluva a recruiter, but he has surrounded himself with good coaches. As much as I despise all things t.u., I'll give his staff credit.
