I'm 35, married, and have a newborn daughter, so my life is pretty much over. In an effort to break the monotony of our lives a few (8-10 so far) friends and I have decided to try and take one trip a year to a big time college football game (we all went to 1AA William and Mary). It came down to a coin flip between USC @ Nebraska and the UGA @ Tenn, and Tenn won!

Anyway we've got rooms Downtown near the stadium, and we've been working on tickets. The internet prices seem really high @$285 for section A (lower 10yd line), but I have no idea if thats a good price (and I realize that it really depends on what kind of year both teams are having). We don't need to be at the 50yd line, but we are all big football fans and would like to get the best value for our $.

Anyway I guess my questions are:
1. Does anyone want to sell me a bunch of tickets for that game?

2. What is the best way to go about getting tickets?

Thanks All!

Good luck. Scalping is a viable option. There really isn't a bad seat, just make sure you get to the stadium in time to see the "running of the T"

Only word of caution is that you will be sitting in the UGA section. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemies. :)

I would say ticket prices will vary greatly depending on how the season is going.

DLong,

Welcome to the board!

First off, don't stress about tickets this far in advance. And, BY ALL MEANS, don't pay $285/ticket. Remember, there are nearly 110,000 of them, and a lot are owned in bulk lots by corporations or families who keep season tickets around and only make it to a game or two each year. This results in a usual plentiful supply of scalpers on gameday. A couple of losses factor into the equation, and you may even find some for face value or less.

Example: Last year's LSU game. It was a pretty darned-big game, and a buddy of mine snatched up a pair for $250. Well, we ended up having 2 extra tickets and tried to sell them near the stadium. He couldn't get $50/piece for them, even at kickoff.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your trip to God's Country!

do you guys even have your season tickets yet? I wouldn't go the stubhub route until august at the earliest.

Relax on tickets for right now...$285 is WAY too much. You can get them at a reasonable price, and I'd say $100 - $125 at the most for lower level seats. You may not be able to get all 8-10 tickets together, but there's not a bad seat in the house and you'll have a great time. Welcome to the board!

There's no reason you can't get two good tickets scalping two to three hours before kickoff at around $250.

I got two tixs in the corner of the endzone halfway up the lower bowl for $160 one hour before kickoff at the last UGA @ UT game in 2005.

IF UT is still undefeated going into October $285 for lower level, between the 20s, in the dry will be a freakin' bargain.

I hope that was sarcasm.

Having attended more UT games than I could ever count, many of which included a number of guests who came without tickets, I can assure you that you could just run through the "T" for $285. For REAL BIG games, good seats, $200-250/pair is about as high as we've ever had to pay. Crap, when I was in Athens last year, there were only a handful of tickets available (and that is not an exaggeration), and we still got in for just over $100 a pop.

And it was worth every penny...Watching us erase a 24-7 deficit and explode on Georgia for 51 points was priceless.

Very true, I would start looking on E-bay around Sept., but I would still hold out till I got there. Word of caution, the further you are from the Stadium the more expensive. Most season ticket holders that have extra tickets sell them at the stadium. We got tickets for the UGA game 2 years ago for $60 a piece in the endzone lower level. Boy what a waste that was, right Vol fans.:bash:

Been going to UT games for 16 years and have never seen a game where you could not get a ticket for $100 or less from scalpers.

Well...Arkansas and S. Carolina.

That just makes me feel a little better about next years home schedule.
