As I watched the game yesterday, I thought to myself, you can take South Carolina and Tennessee and still get beat by 4 touchdowns to Alabama. That's just not fair. Agree?

who said life was fair...and as far as parity...8 ranked teams lost to unranked teams yesterday...crazy day and lots of fun, but hell to try to pick winners...:D

I would like to see some schollarship reduction. Make teams have have more actual students and prevent teams from stockpiling 5 star athletes on their bench. Bring the total more in line with baseball and basketball to the numbers actually on the field.

You must be one of those Bama cheats so much folks. They do tons different then most teams. An example is actually Butch. How many major programs have former HC as low level video people? That’s what Saban figures out. We could do it too. We just don’t spend the money like they do. After Saban won his first natty at Bama he was on the phone, just a few hours after the game, demanding the university spend more on his program. They outclass us in facilities, tradition, getting guys to the nfl, and winning. Should be no surprise an excellent coach like Saban has things rolling.

Bama is Bama. But if you don’t think it’s absolutley incestuous in Birmingham with Bama people...the SEC office, officiating office, compliance offices, state government backing...to say nothing of the Emmert/Saban connection...I don’t know what to say. Bama spends the money, gives the resources, builds facilities, gets the best coaches...sure....but that combined with the cover at the top is what makes Bama THIS good. They would be who they are anyway, but not like this. This historic run is a combination of both. Furthermore, you know what? Good for them. It sucks but I would take it too if it were UT, all of us would.

All that applies with the recruits too. Money, cars, etc. it’s all out there for everybody to see. Those at the top don’t care. So no, UMASS doesn’t have the same opportunity at the same kids as Bama does. Even if they spent the same money and resources. Not even close.

It’s past naive to think CFB is a fair game.

It makes me wonder why I enjoy it. I think Saban's dominance has harmed the quality of SEC football, as the fired coaches flit around to different schools every 3 years, but I still enjoy watching the now-much-worse teams.

Professional sports try to monitor and control parity, and I have no interest in any of them.

As much as Alabama has dominated the college football world in the last decade "fairness" is not the issue. Saban built that program legitimately. He works under the same rules and restrictions as every else, and despite what some may feel is no dirtier than anyone else. Saban is just better than anyone else in recruiting, staffing and development of players. By far, and it ain't even close. You have to allow for excellence in any field, no matter how much it hurts when you are on the other side. Changing the rules to make things "fair" is akin to not keeping score in peewee sports, or giving everyone a trophy. What is the point? If someone has the determination and ability to dominate the sport then they have earned it. Period.

The difference between the Alabama program and the Tennessee program, I think, comes down to leadership in the university. Bama has it, UT doesn't. After a decade of futility Alabama decided enough is enough, bet the farm by going down to Miami to get the best coach in college football and did not take no for an answer. UT bumbled through the most pathetic (and humiliating) search for a coach in the history of sports. Fair? Yes, competence is rewarded and should not be punished. That being said, Buck Fama and their inbred fanbase.

No doubt that Bama has hurt the conference overall because the other teams just aren't competitive enough with them. As far as recruiting, I don't know, but I would think that with all the youtube videos the players make of themselves then recruiting most be pretty simple for them now. The top players come to them instead of the other way around I would imagine. They can evaluate players without ever seeing them and pick the ones they want to offer. Of course I'm sure they find out who their main rivals in the SEC and nationally are after and try to steal them from those teams as well, just to make sure the other teams have to work for it! But, they are just way too rich. They affect other teams seasons because injuries happen playing them and cost them future games as well, like us last Saturday. We'd have won if we had played anybody else the week before. I love that LSU just basically accepted the facts and kept Orgeron instead of doing what Texas A&M did. They got a coach for cheap because I think they had accepted that until Saban retires, Bama is going to dominate. They get a bonus in that they are getting a lot more for their money than they ever dreamed of.

How mean of them to be better than everybody. Lmao probably wouldn’t be as much complaining around here if the roles were reversed.

TN's facilities are 2nd to none. Our peeps like to be build moments to themselves. We have great tradition. Not so much recently. Agree with you. Only thing that stands in the way TN being elite is TN. Which is why it is so pathetic.

After a decade of being humiliated by a series of "next great coach" Alabama decided enough is enough, bet the farm by going down to Miami to get someone tired of the NFL after being burned by Rich Rodriguez and did not take no for an answer. UT bumbled through the most pathetic (and humiliating) search for a coach in the history of sports.
